It can just be for the fun of it but the best situation is a stronger connection. The more often with the same partner where both are willing to be open and giving, the better the experience.

Sex: a pleasure or a means?

Both and more.

Seems kinda like asking "eating: pleasure/taste or nutrition?"

IMO it's more of a spectrum due to the word being a general term for a general act, where you land on it during any particular sexual encounter depends on a lot of what's motivating you to be there and participate.

I like to think of sex as pump that inflates his brain .. at 28 miles per hour ... Can anything else do that laugh laugh

It can be a primitive act, it can be lovemaking, it can be passionate, etc.

Not always the same.

Sex is natural, sex is fun. Monogamously, or polyamorously.
Sex is a way to show love.
Sex is also a means to procreate.

So sex can be for all of the above....not everybody does it for all the same reasons.

Pleasure.

Sex is physical. I dont think it should be handcuffed to emotion. There are far more intimate things to show love.

It is for both pleasure and a means to show love.

It is a means of expression to communicate desire ,appreciation and love to another person may it be pleasurable or not but with a common intention/purpose  one can always learn or teach what matters is clear understanding in communication  JMO

The women I’ve been with told me it was a pleasuresmokin

As in, pleasure doing business with you?
I guess you tipped them well? OMG that sounds horrible wrong, lol

I'm a woman, so it's always connected with emotions. Sex purely for physical pleasure doesn't work for me. Extremely difficult to separate pure physical pleasure from emotions. Like I said, I'm a woman, and women get flooded with oxytocin when they have sex, which is the bonding hormone.
Just doesn't work for me if I cannot bond because there's nothing to bond because he's not someone I have feelings for.
Apart from that, there's nothing better than being intimate with someone you have feelings for, someone you want and can completely open up to, feel safe with, and bond with. Let that oxytocin flood me and enjoy every last bit of it!
Nothing can ever beat that. And if you have a very deep connection with the other person, wow! Straight to heaven!
