People know that there are cops that do good things. That's not news.

But some jobs, unlike children, should have zero tolerance.

I'm a pilot. The Marines taught me how to fly, now I do it because it's something I love to do. But how many times does it make the news that 4800 flights arrived safely?

You don't hear that. You hear about the three plane crashes in two years. It should be zero-tolerance when human lives are involved. And that doesn't just go for being a pilot, it should be for cops, firemen, nurses, doctors and anybody else that has discretionary power over human life.

To be honest, I don't really care about the "thug"
It's the attitude towards less well off people that amazed me!

There was also a police officer (now a detective) with the Albuquerque Police Department that adopted a homeless heroin addicts baby while she was still pregnant. They kept the baby, and got the woman and her homeless boyfriend into rehab.

And?

How do you know he was less well off. He had a vehicle and several guns as a teenager. That cost thousands lol. His dad could have been a big time drug dealer. The point is the boy wasn't raised to have any respect for the law or to be a product member of society.

They've showed the community rioting and getting arrested, the mayor from the next town but I haven't seen his parents. They seem to be leaving his home life out of the situation. Where was mom and dad while he was shooting people?

My son didn't have a car or a cell phone when he joined the military. Now he has a middle class income. Life is what you make it.

again, strawman argument,a pilot job flying commercial job is to go from one destination to another with passengers aboard, there job isnt to protect passengers in society, the exception for a pilot is if he or she is flying a fighter jet for the military their job is designed to seek and destroy.

A policeman/women job is serve and protect the public which is why they carry guns, A doctor, fireman/woman , nurses and doctors dont carry guns for a living.

Well, good for him.
I wonder what the intake numbers are amongst lower class and neglected young people is there?
I'd say here its higher from the north, areas with less opportunities in manufacturing.

Gangs are a huge problem in ATL even though a lot of people are migrating from other states because of jobs there. It's not lack of opportunity that causes crime. These kids are repeating cycles. They interviewed a judge and the man over the task force assigned to help these kids. He said most of the parents couldn't care less about their kids.

My son went to basic training at fort benning. They invited families for thanksgiving. They had a briefing for families. There were kids there from 26 different states. He began having seizures after airborne school. They sent him home. He now works in manufacturing. He was an honor grad and can easily go to college if he chooses. But honestly he is making too much money for that. We are both paying down debt and saving for the next housing bubble to burst.

Airborne

But is there equal opportunities for people from poorer backgrounds?

Yes. He had a friend join the air forces whose mom is dead and dad in jail. He lived with his grandmother in a shack. In high school they take the azfab I think it's called. All branches of the military receive their score. The air force called my son first,Then marines, then army. He went army. My brother was an army ranger and my step dad was airborne. I guess that's why he chose army. My son in law was army for 7 years. He is now using his GI bill and burying people for the neighbor.

Wasn't it bush who said joining the military is for poor people? It's a way to earn a living and get college paid for at the same time. My son in law will get a check for the rest of his life. They paid 100% for my grandsons to be born. When my grandson had asthma they paid 100% of the bill. It's parents responsibility to guide their kids. My daughter is thinking about getting her real estate license. I think it's a good idea.

Gangs are not just an Atlanta problem its an American problem, this is why you folks have such high stats on gun crimes and the left is either misleading the public on purpose or their too naive.

Every time I hear the left say "we need more gun control legislation" I think wow how out to lunch are they?

80% of gun homicides are caused by gangs and drug wars, how is more gun control going to bite into the high number of gun deaths?

Who are the majority of gang bangers with guns?

Why do you think the police are on high alert when they have to chase down a possible perp involved in a shooting?

When people say look at Canada we dont have the same gun deaths, well yeah for one we dont have the same population either, our entire population can fit into California.

2) we dont have the national gang problems as the States, although anyone from my city knows where the gangs are, we avoid those areas as much as possible because of the gangs and gun violence.

it happens here it just doesn't get reported by US media unless its a major event like that soldier that was killed by a Muslim convert.

We have gun crimes too, most of it is done by gangs.

Perhaps that explains why both he, and Cadet Bone Spurs managed to dodge the draft so many times.

I personally think some people aren't meant to be in the military. Some of the training is extreme. My son had to dig a hole and living in it for 2 weeks in January. A lot of people couldn't handle that.

You don't have to tell me about that.
Some people are cut out for it. Some are not.

Well, as my drill instructor told me: "If you don't make it through boot, you won't make it through combat."

The real irony, is that Trump lovers were asked why they were voting for him, and the answers were basically: "He's he's a new face! He's never done this before!"

If only they made the same choices when choosing a surgeon.
