In most the countries with taxpayer healthcare, most the health is 'self' caused as well. It doesn't change the comparison.

We aren't every other country. Our country was built on freedom. The freedom to work or starve. So again, if people want healthcare, they need to get off their ***** and get a job. I'm voting Republican next month and for Trump in 2020.

Well...if everybody was perfect, and never did anything wrong.....and was able to get the good job with benefits (which are dwindling away)..then we wouldn;t be having this conversation..

But, in the *real* world...people make mistakes, there are tons of shitty jobs with no benefits most of which are part time, and good luck with getting the employers to work with your scheduel so you can work two or three parts times to make enough money to keep a roof over your head and food on the table..

Do you know there are *many* people who *are* working full time, but are still eligible for food stamps...because they don't make enough?

Anyone who works 40 hours at *any* job should make enough on that job to provide for their houysing, food, utilities, car insurance (required in most states) because not every place has decent public transport.

You should be MORE incensed at corporate welfare and tax write-offs that prevent companies from paying their fair share...
And companies that refuse to raise their wages becase they claim they'd have to lay off people...
Bull..
They just don't want to lose one dime of profit.

I am 57, and ina;ll my years of watching the McNeil-Lehrer Report, 60 Minutes (with my dad as a kid/ teenager), and various news programs the last 20 years.

And the minimum wage was like $2.35 when i started working, and I don't recall the corporations raising h*** about increases in the minimum wage before, like they are now..

It's greed...plain and simnple.

If you can't pay your people enough to live on, you don't need to be in business..

You DO know people used to be able to raise a family on ONE income...?
Teachers....mailmen....store managers..factory workers..etc...

And it is NOT because we have more stuff now that we can't afford...
Wages/ income hasn't kept pace with the cost of living.

Plus...those good jobs with benefits you keep talking about and saying people should just go get?
They aren't as common as they used to be.

Sink or swim..if yer drowning, I'm not gonna lift a finger to save you..you should've learned to swim.

Row your own boat....never mind no one gave you an oar...tough s**t.

Make those bricks (said Pharoah)...even though i won't give you enough material to do so...

If you were on fire, I wouldn't pee on you to put it out....you shouldn't have been playing with those matches..it's your own damn fault.

I had a coworker ask me out last week. He said I need to tell you i was in prison for 13 years. My son hired a guy who had served 7. The economy is great and employers want people who will work. We have the ones who make excuses. They are the 1st ones to go

I know how to swim. I am rowing my own boat. I work full time and bust my butt working on property during my time off. A coworker broke down in my driveway last Wednesday. I was in the bed because I get up at 3:30. My son called me to help him. I let him leave his car in my driveway. I drove him halfway to work and my son drive halfway back to get him. The difference is it was my choice to help someone who i know is trying. It's not forced on me to work overtime to support a lazy *** who won't help themselves.

During my orientation the lady kept asking everyone if they were sure they were going to show up for the 1st day of work. After I started, coworkers asked me for the first week if I was coming back the next day. They hire people with criminal records. The problem they have is getting lazy people to work. Most of the people in my immediate dept have been out twice, volunteered to go home, or gone home early. They are actually the good ones.

Wow, so many posts, I confess, I simply can't be bothered to read them all. If all you care about is money, then you probably think he's great, something to aspire to, a living embodiment of the American dream. If however your principles cannot be bought, I suspect you think he's not so great, and a living embodiment of the American nightmare. I'm kind if sick of hearing about him tbh.

In 2016, Trump allegedly made 530 million dollars. His presidential salary of 400 grand amounts to about 1/10 of a percent of his income. Plenty of other 'haters' do much more for the 'good of the people'.

Principles are just what foundational beliefs people have. Materialistic principles are founded on profit first and profit only. Community principles are founded on the health and well being of the community. et cetera , et cetera

everyone has their principles, the only difference is the priorities or those principles revolve around.

Having a job doesn't guarantee you health care. I know, I've been down that road twice. Two different companies at two different times let me go when I needed my healthcare.

And they have done it to a lot of people. And are still doing it and getting away with it. They aren't the only ones that do it.

When I opened my shop back up again I bought my own ins through the exchange.

http://www.healthcare.gov/ I haven't had a problem since. All these problems other people say they have, I haven't. It's worked great for me for the past 5 years. I pay my deductible and ins pays the rest.

Yes, my deductible has gone up. But I'm OK with it. At least I know when I need it, it will be there. Right now, there is only one company here that that has a health care plan that won't pull out from under you when you need it.

All the other companies have been known to let people go if they used their health care too much. Or if they develop a condition that causes them to have to take time off from work. Companies are crooked. They will find a way to let you go and leave you flat and hurt.

The smartest thing you can do is buy your own. With companies being the way they are, it's dumb to rely on company provided ins.

Companies need people who come to work. Imagine going to the grocery store and it's closed, or the gas station, Dr office, restaurant. My friend who is eating himself to death knows he is sick but not saving for when he can't work and looses ins. He is upgrading his phone, laptop, going to restaurants twice a day, buy ar's. He will eventually be on tax payers. But he will have to be disabled. People who don't work and able, shouldn't be getting free healthcare. No incentive to work. It's stupid to say people working their butts off to supply their own, should also supply others. Liberals aren't getting excited over jobs for all. I have a friend who owned his own trucking company. He stopped driving and went to work driving a train because he was sick and needed the ins

Who says "Liberals aren't getting excited over jobs for all."???

I would be tickled if everyone that wanted a real job, with benefits was able to get one..
Our infrastructure badly needs repair....and so many other things...there should be spomething like the WPA or CCC for people with no skills to work and earn money and be trained at the same time..
Not everyone can afford college (or is smart enough)...and many, many graduates can't find jobs in their field, and are stuck woth thousands and thousand of doallrs in student debt..
Those same people can't buy a new car, or a house, or make any other large purchases that prop up our consumerist economy when they are saddled with so huge a debt.

If people can't afford to buy stuff..the economy goes south.
It needs people to buy stuff...

Also...
"I have a friend who owned his own trucking company. He stopped driving and went to work driving a train because he was sick and needed the ins"

I thought that was what you were preaching...pull yourself up by your bootstraps/ Ayn Rand ideology?

Ergo...having your own business is the epitome of America...self made, etc...

Why would you be glad he had to go to work for someone else?
If we had government health care..he could have stayed in business and maybe employed a few people...instead of having to go work for someone else...

Anyone who works 40 hours *should8 be able to afford a place to live, a car (because, as I said, not every state is blessed with good public transport), and utilities and groceries.

I didn't say a fancy house or expensive car..
I mean the basics...food, clothing, sheltewr, decent, reliable transportation.

I really don't get the anger and animosity towards people who don't have it as good as you do, or aren't as smart....or didn't have the support network of family or whatever...
Some people try their damndest....try hard, but fail, through no fault of their own.
For some, everything comes easy...

Instead of wanting to kick people when they are down, already feeling bad about their life and themselves, why not figure out a way to help them better themselves?
I don't mean drug addicts or alcoholics....
I mean those who just seem to struggle....maybe a friend to guide them is what they need, instead of someone sayong "tought ****...i got mine....you can go f*** yourself.."

Not everyone who is in bad shape got that way from "poor choices" or bad planning...I could tell you a couple of stories..

S*** happens..and, if it hasn't happened to you, or didn't affect you...then instead of pissing on other people and implying they are useless excuses for skin that don't deserve to breath your air....maybe you should get on your knees and thank whatever deity you believe in that you aren't in their shoes...be grateful...not judgy.

Namaste.
I'm done with this.

Who is telling anyone to go **** themselves???????

All I said was the truth.. It don't work the way you want ( 40 hour and you make enough to pay everything).. and never will.. and it shouldn't. Cause I can tell you one thing right now, (aside from the other points I listed in my prior posts). That would put small business.. right out of business.. and larger businesses would pass the increase.. right on to the consumer.

Many many people grow up poor and and go out there and work there way up. no silver spoon in their mouth.. no hand outs.. 2 jobs.. working 7 days a week...to get those things you spoke of. Work to where they could afford a house. car, ect, ect.

Including... me.. and many others on this site.

Nobody is entitles to those things just because they work 40 hours a week. You have to earn your smarts.. then the money comes. you have to apply yourself.. not just show up.

This is no secrete.

And it is no different in any county.

Let's see you take a second job and donate it. Seems all liberals are worried about is getting their hands in trumps pockets. Health and wellbeing can matter in a community when those members work and pay for it instead of laying around waiting for a handout. Work is good for the body and soul.

if you want to talk about kicking someone when they are down, talk about DEMOCRAT Eric Holder. He said When they go low...WE will KICK them. I worked 45 years, I had a daughter die, I had two divorces, I lost my house. I LOVE TRUMP. and I do NOT want socialism. All you folks who want free college, free cell phones, free housing, free everything, where do you think the money come from??? Why do you think Cubans fled the Castro regime. Why do you think there is so much poverty and unrest in Venzueala. Oh, that's right .... you DIDN'T think. Stop whining and asking for handouts and get a job. stop swearing and drugging. Have respect for the flag and the men and women who died for it so that you CAN whine. Get a LIFE.

He kept his business. He already had a couple driving for him. He hired another employee to drive his truck and he did what was need to SUPPORT HIMSELF. That's the point you should be taking from this. His company was struggling under Obama and it didn't leave enough income to purchase insurance.

I was living on rental income until two months ago. I have some added expenses. Braces for my daughter, add taxes because property values are drastically increasing. So I added income to my situation. Everyone is responsible for supporting themselves. A lot of my friends work two jobs. I have a friend who flies for delta. On his days off he fixes planes which is his own personal business.

So when I hear liberals pissing and moaning about businesses getting tax breaks, it makes me mad as hell. I know what people go through to make a business successful. Back in 2012 my friend was only fixing planes but he couldn't survive on it under the crappy economy. Both of these could have easily made an excuse and went on govt assistance. I could stop paying my taxes and stop paying my mortgage but I'm doing what I need to do for MY FAMILY. Liberals act like everything is handed to business owners and they are selfish and won't give them a handout.

My nephew had his own carpet cleaning business. When he got married with a baby on the way, he went to work at a company that provided insurance as a benefit. He cleaned carpet in the morning before work and on weekends if he had time off. My dad worked at a steel company and welded for people on the side during his free time. He also raised cows.

I think a lot of people's view came from how they were raised. Some parents made excuses and relied on the govt. Some parents took a second job. We all have the same opportunities. Life is what you make of it.

GOP plays blame game while fighting to save House majority

"Republicans have begun to concede defeat in the evolving fight to preserve the House majority.

The party's candidates may not go quietly, but from the Arizona mountains to suburban Denver to the cornfields of Iowa, the GOP's most powerful players this midterm season are actively shifting resources away from vulnerable Republican House candidates deemed too far gone and toward those thought to have a better chance of political survival".
