I've never tried it and have never been curious about it. I do believe that it can have medical benefits for some people. There are so many drugs that are prescribed by doctors, with bad side effects. Why is marijuana so bad?

My state legalize medical marijuana about 2years ago.

Our New Governor just signed a bill to legalize Recreational marijuana.

Not sure if the bill will. Pass the House.

I never bought any but I smoke it a few times when I was younger. I can't remember the last time I smoked it, or where I was when I smoked it, but I don't think it affect my memory.

slaphead Wait, maybe it did affect my memory.rofl

Seriously I did smoke it when I was younger and I think it should be legalized even though I don't smoke it now and have no desire to do so. But I think most of the people who get a "medical card" and call it "medicine" are full of crapola....they want it to get high.

I will add, I have been around both people high on weed, and people drunk on alcohol. I greatly prefer those high on weed. I also think far fewer people die, either directly or indirectly, from using weed and the mood or choices that follow.

No one has ever died because of marijuana. You can not overdose on it! There has not been one death linked solely to marijuana. Sure has it been in the system when a drunk driver kills or gets killed, yes! But it was the alcohol that caused that accident, not marijuana.
It saved my life from pain pills! Saved many of my friends lives from pills, heroin, coke, crack, etc! The only way you will die from marijuana, is if bail of it hits you on the head and crushes your spinal cord! lol

Actual there have been people who have died from ingesting marijuana. It is possible to "overdose" on it, but overdoses aren't associated with fatalities. In most states that allow recreational marijuana there are reports of children being taken to emergency rooms suffering from the effect caused by accidental ingestion. And in the case of accidents it's impossible to determine whether alcohol or marijuana was cause when BOTH were present in the system and both can impair the ability to drive.

The fact is there is still a lot to be learned about the effects of marijuana. Like I said before I think it should be legalized but to ignore the possible harmful effects that can be attributed to it's use is irresponsible. I would suggest looking at the numbers put out by New Zealand. According to their 2016 Harm Index cannabis is responsible for 32 deaths per year.

I'm just curious how many, if anybody have had to possibly explain reasons for use to kids?

I ask, because I just recently had to explain to my girlfriend's 10 year old daughter, that I smoke Cannabis. She caught me firing up my pipe while I was out smoking.

While I was able to explain, and she understands that there are medicinal benefits from Cannabis use.

I guess I'm just wondering how anyone else handled the situation?

Like all discussion, age of the child and developmental stage are important factors in how to communicate things to them. My daughter is 11 and a pretty smart girl as far as logic goes. I just tell her the truth with analogies. I tell her that people do things that make them feel good, like when she wants a cookie, or when she takes medicine. I explain that some people use marijuana like we might use tylenol or advil to feel better. And some people use marijuana like others use alcohol, to 'feel' better. But that, like alcohol, some people also ABUSE marijuana to avoid facing obstacles and problems, instead of as an occasional recreation.

She understands it.

Unfortunately for us we all think kids are dumb and stupid so we lie ourselves to death assuming they will buy it.

In reality the dumber we treat them the less they buy it.

It's a vice plain and simple . Like cigarettes, alcohol or weed , it's a vice. Cigarettes will kill you , we all know, ithe destroys your lungs. Alcohol will kill you we all know , it's kills your liver. Weed tho, we don't know! !!!!

This is not entirely true, depending on what is considered 'alcohol'. For instance, sugar in large amounts can contribute to obesity, but consuming sugar occasionally or in moderation with a balance of healthy lifestyle will not likely lead to obesity.

Likewise, wine and other alcohols will not cause harm to the kidney if used in moderation and wine is actually a fermented form of fruits and can be helpful to the health, if used as advised in moderation.

Everything CAN harm us if used inappropriately, but they are much less likely to harm us if used in moderation as intended.

I think a VICE is something used to avoid, and almost anything from food to drink can be used as a VICE. Other times, however, people use things for momentary entertainment or enjoyment, and not to avoid. In which case, it becomes an issue of whether use has become Abuse.

Very well put! I've had chronic pain issues for 40 years, I've been on everything there is for pain including morphine tablets and fentanyl patches.
Now I'm off all of it and I'm not worried about the small amount of damage that the smoke (of any kind) may do to my lungs. I've had several heart to heart talks with my pain doctor about quality of life and that's what it comes down to. If you don't have the pain you don't know. Plus as I said earlier humans want to get high and always have.
It's crazy that the government should even be involved. Through out my lifetime I've watched as they stomped and pissed on our constitution and taken away our rights. Drug testing for workers for example is rediculous, they punish and fire people who smoke some weed; it stays in your body for a long time but idiots (there's lots of you out there) who do meth the worst drug ever and get away with it because it's out of your system in a couple of days.
But the foulest and most rights crushing thing of all is drug testing! Read the constitution and tell me how this could be allowed,it's insane. I've always been self employed and it hasn't effected me but I've seen friends suffer because of it. This is cliche but correct; would you rather have that guy driving that truck full of welding gases be high on weed or vibrating along nervous and paranoid having done meth and hasn't slept for 3 days coming at you on the hiway?

Your wrong! I read a lot about marijuana and just looked up to verify what you said and there is no overdose deaths from marijuana! None!! When it comes to a drunk that got in an accident that had herb in his body. It was the alcohol that caused that, not the herb! You don't drive erratic on herb, you drive safer, slower and better! There is only one death in a baby they are trying to link it to herb and there are so many flaws in their theory along with a ton of professionals that disagree with the few doctors that are saying herb caused it. So just like in any debate, majority wins! BTW I been smoking for over 33 years! It has helped my asthma, my allergies, my pain levels from broken spine in the past, bulged discs in my neck, 3 compressed vertebrae and 14 major concussions! It has helped my brain damage from those concussions, because herb helps protect the brain in those incidents along with helping to repair it. This is why they say people with dementia and alzheimers should smoke it.
There is also one death they say was caused in Colorado, which is inconclusive as well cause of the fact, most of all other drugs are out of the body within 24hrs. So they couldn't tell if any other drugs or alcohol was involved in this death. Making it inconclusive. So you can't blame something, when there is not concrete evidence. So until there is 100% concrete evidence, I will stick to the fact there has not been one conclusive death caused by herb alone! I have been studying Hemp and Marijuana for 10+ years. I a lot of cases, that would make me a professional at Marijuana research. JS If there is ever one case, they can pinpoint to just herb, then I will stand corrected. Till then, show me concrete evidence to prove me and thousands of other researchers and scientist wrong.

I don't have a problem with others who use it responsibly.

I don't like it, the effects of it or the way it smells... the smell of it is pretty gross to me and makes me feel sick. Needless to say, I don't want to be around it.

I second this
