I want someone who takes care of themself. They don't have to be in perfect shape but I don't want a man who looks like he is pregnant.

I want a man who is independent and financially secure. He doesn't have to be rich but if my 25 year old son is better off than the 50 year old man trying to date me, there is a problem.

I want him to be able to do "man's work" around the house. Cut grass, fix the lawnmower, fix a leaky faucet. Men want a woman who cleans house and can cook. He should handle his role.

I want him to be fun and adventurous. Road trip, new restaurant, take a new class, learn a new hobby etc. If all he wants to do is eat and screw, we have a problem.

I want him to be charming. I want him to open doors and pick up the check. Bring me flowers. Not some thing he has to do every time he sees me but if coming over and eating up all my groceries is all he wants to do, we have a problem.

I want him to be honest. Sometimes I think liars lie just because they can. I don't want someone who i can't trust.

I want him to be smart. Doesn't have to be a rocket scientist but he must be able to have conversations about some thing besides sex and gossip.

What is a REAL man for you?

lol...good luck. This has been asked a lot on many different forums.
Here's what you're going to get:
- vague generalities.
- comparisons to extremes.

That's all that is possible.
Unless they are describing an actual individual they already know/have. Then it would be better to then contact the other person and have them describe themselves and compare the answers. It's extremely entertaining.

Not taking about some dream BS Hollywood

I don't think you understand what you are asking.
You are asking what are ultimately strangers to you to effectively communicate something completely subjective to their individuality, personal bias, and sensibilities, all across another communication gap called "gender."

For random example you will get things like this:
I want someone who takes care of themself.

How vague is that?
Do they take care of themselves because they have to? Because they want to? Are they motivated by anger? Are they "taking care" of themselves because they have their own ideal someone they are trying to get? What delusions do they tell themselves? Is there going to be something stupid like "they take care of themselves for themselves!"

And:
They don't have to be in perfect shape but I don't want a man who looks like he is pregnant.

There is a huge degree of difference between "perfect shape" and looking like they're "pregnant."
Completely putting aside "how" pregnant, 9 mo's? 5 mo's? The baby bump size is purely subjective, what associations do they have with someone that "looks pregnant" that makes them not suitable as "real" men?

Here's your question rephrased that will show you how the answers you actually get make sense:
"Please describe for me your subjective idea of someone that will fulfill everything you idealize, think you want, and delude yourself they should be, because ultimately what you want is someone that is an extension of your ego and intellect, using as vague and generalized ideas as possible because I know you want to avoid being judged as though you are only seeking some solipsistic extension of yourself, so I as a 4 year old that won't question you nor force you to commit to anything (although I might! you run that risk by answering!) will understand you."

Hope that helps!

First and foremost... he should have a pulse! If that's missing it's a good indication that he's not "Real".

Second... he should have a really good set of lungs. I like to stay active and enjoy hiking.

Third... He should have a healthy appetite. I have a difficult time cooking smaller meals, there's usually a ton of left overs.

And fourth... He needs to have self respect and integrity.

There is an old German proverb. Love is connected to your stomach ... roughly translated. Meaning proper meals are part of life and love. So will there be dessert?

Funny to read this here, synchronicities abound at the mo for me...
I just wrote an article on this for my blog (not posted yet).

To me a real man is someone who is not stuck in ego stuff anymore. Meaning he's mature, not projecting (past) issues onto a new woman, or women in general.
A man who doesn't need a partner, but wants one as he'd love someone in his life who complements him. He doesn't need someone to fill any voids inside of himself, he can be happy on his own, but knows a relationship & partner can be an enrichment nonetheless.
A man who's in touch with his feelings, can express them, and can communicate in a healthy way.
What I find very important is that he has this "provide & protect" and eagerness to give to his girl and that making her happy makes him happy.

In short a man who embodies those masculine qualities which set in motion the perpetual give and receive between a man & woman the way they were meant to.
That comes down to having dealt with issues and not being controlled by ego.

I want someone who takes care of themself.
How vague is that?

"Takes care of themselves is unfortunately "code" for "don't be fat"...
WHY people can't just say "I don't like fat/ overweight people...I don't know.

*I* take care of myself..
I don't eat junk food...don't do drugs...don't drink to exces...get enough sleep...trty and get as much exercise as I can (I do all my own yard care..and I have an acre & a half)..
Go to the dentist twice a year...etc..

So I *do* take care of myself...but I am a tubby gal...

I know overweight people who are medically and physically in better shape than some thin people...they are just naturally stocky..but can run circles around some people in the gym or hiking.
And i know some thin people who have bad health and eating habits.

You don't like fat/ overwieght people..that's fine, everyone has their prefernces...
Just be truthful, don't try and parse it to sound like you mean something else..

Amazing how shallow people are.

Money, heard that one in there.

Work, yes, wouldn't it be nice if we all could

Not fat, well, I guess my gif explains that.

Whoopie doo.. you can take care or your yard, or change your oil, or God forbid change a tire.

Reckon most of y'alls depiction of your perfect mind. So, when we did everything you all have mentioned, and something happens and those days are over for us, we should be stuck in the gas camber, burned, and used for fertilizer, because seem to me, if we cant do these things, then that's all we're good for.

Shallow... I think it's best I stay alone because I don't want no shallow person in my life. Don't need nothing from none of ya.

Bitter? Damn straight.. hope you shallow people find your Hurcules..

Yeah right. Big wallet, big house and sixpack? I give up, even if I am a wee bit exaggerating. But I don't think, any of us guys here is a freeloader. Still, we are not in a cloudcookooland, where we are getting picked up by celebreties and unicorns. Beauty comes from the inside, ffs

Hahahahahahahaha!

Close your eyes and reach down to where you pee.
If you feel a penis, you ARE a REAL man.
If you don't, well, you figure it out...

Lets turn it around...
What makes a female a real woman?

Any woman that writes in her profile that she is looking for a REAL man is not worth investing time to get to know.
I think the whole concept of REAL man or REAL woman is stupid and displays ignorance of the REAL world we live in...DELUSIONAL.

Yes, beauty comes from the inside for sure, but you should feel good when looking at your partner and not think and feel "Eeewwww!"

And men always make out to believe women are so demanding, while I feel it's more the other way round, but that part is always left out...
