Who else believes that if a person wants to be with someone; they accept there past, present? etc? ..... as well as there baggage?

If you are going to have a healthy relationship, then yes you need to accept the person for who they are, their past is what helped shape the person they are today.

Depends on What Their past is. I don't Fall in Love quick it takes a While for that to happen. Mainly after I get to know the Man and that Means IN PERSON.

The person with the baggage would be foolish to insist that someone else accept that person's baggage.

I just use plastic Wal-Mart bags since baggage is so much

Well, you're allowed one baggage per decade

you're only lugging 2 baggages

Not talking about their baggage and understanding where it came from will eventually affect the relationship and mostly in a negative way. If you are going to accept the person, then you have to accept what comes with them.

Yes, well, the thing about this, which many (especially younger or less experienced) people get wrong, is the ORDER OF EVENTS.

That is, when you begin to become involved with someone, it is true that how successful and smooth the relationship will be, will depend on whether or not each person is ABLE to accept everything (past present and future) that makes the other person who and what they are.

However, the fact that you like someone, and want to be with them, doesn't OBLIGATE THEM, to accept everything about YOU.

It unfortunately is also not true, that "love conquers all" in such situations. The fact that you ARE attracted to, and even may love someone, unfortunately doesn't CAUSE you to be able to accept everything that is true about them. It doesn't CAUSE you to BE COMPATIBLE, in other words.

It's very much like the truth about forgiveness. Forgiving someone is NOT a simple act of will. It is an actual organic process, involving coming to actually agree with the other person on some level, for having done or been what they have done or been.

Baggage as in kids? Why not. Nothing wrong with that. My Ex had a son, I had a good relationship with him.

It must be Irish slang, calling kids 'baggage' surprised

Anyway, I knew my Ex had a child, I didn't mind, accepted him as my own ... but they got jealous, coming out with nasty stuff like, don't listen to him, he is only your stepdad sad2
