I'm spending Christmas Eve and day alone. Who else is alone? What are you doing? I'm cooking for myself and watching tv.

Yep, spending Christmas alone. I never even had time to get a tree. Don't have any friends in the area yet to spend the holiday with.

I'd really like to do something. In the past, I would go to a bar to hang with friends to at least get some hint of holiday cheer. But now I don't drink anymore. It's not the same.

If I hadn't been working so many hours lately, I would have signed up for the Christmas Alkathon. Unfortunately, we're short 3 staff, so I never had the time in between work and errands to get signed up.

Then I thought I would probably just work on the holiday. Now it looks like I'll have the day off, with no place to go and all the stores and restaurants closed. Just a boring day at home with no tree, no presents, and not even the kitchen gear to at least bake some cookies.

I really miss the Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. I always thought I would do my own, but life just keeps getting in the way.

I've spent a few Xmas's on my onw in the past. I'm visiting my brother today with his family.

Left another post wishing you an enjoyable day with your family but you will be in your lonesome. It's a time for famlies but sadly not all get to share it that way.

Merry Christmas Cat flowerforyou I hope you have an enjoyable day smile2

I was invited to the family Christmas gathering but chose to stay home, the down time after traveling is my gift to myself. Relaxation, baking cookies, Christmas music, and drinking hot cocoa.

The mate works in a casino which does not recognize
ANY American holidays.

Someone is bringing in a Prime Rib for his crew and
I am sending in twice-baked potatoes for the pot-luck.

Others will bring other dishes..and they will nibble
away on their swing shift ;-)

I will be home alone during that time, getting over
the loss of 3 of our babies, 2 cats and a dog, all from
old age that we said goodbye to this month.

Happy Holidays ;-)

*Were you closer we would invite you over Cat ;-)

Holidays have changed for me over the years, as I imagine they do for everyone.

When I was a child, Holidays were a cross between fun opportunities for extra cake and candy, presents at Christmas, with stress and anguish over how to behave and how to prove I was a good human being by what I did during them. Mostly, I thought I had to figure out how to "do holidays right," as a part of achieving some official status as an equally respected and privileged human.

I eventually got over all that, and now they are just occasional break times, for the most part. I'm at the stage of life where my families are now shrinking rather than growing. When I was young, there were six of us: four kids and two parents; that grew dramatically when I married, and had two large families to attend to holiday duties with; after my divorce, the other family vanished instantly. And this last year, I lost two from the original six, with another about to go anytime.

In all that time, I've always been alone in some ways. Today, I'm going to visit with my ex and two of our three children, and then with the one of the original six, who is in the process of fading away.

After that, back to more of the same.

Is it not strange, you are best friends one moment
(in-laws), then a divorce and they dump you so fast
your head spins. Not real Christmas-y eh?

Alone, TV not working. icy fog in air. Will make something special for supper like shrimp and avacados. Cry a little bit. Watch a free movie on YouTube. My family is "gone" with only one daughter left & she's working a 14 hour day today. so happy holidays to everyone, alone or With families.
