with all the advancements
its been a blast just got yelled at cause i wouldn't answer a call from a number i didn't know granted it didn't show on the fire wall on the cell that it was a mass call number its not like i put it on ignore i just slide it to the go to voice mail and that's really funny cause i never set me voice mail up so not really sure where it goes   <shrug> but any who was wonderen am i the only one avoiding the robot calls ? do you all after being hounded by calls and being on the do not call list not answer calls where it don't show ya know who it is ? kinda makes me miss the house answering machine screening calls : ) |

There is only one restricted caller I've EVER answered. Normally they get ignored.

Unless I was expecting a call for an interview from another State I don't answer unless I recognize the number. The number goes straight to the reject call list. If it's something important business wise, they usually have my address and can write me a letter.

most of the number calls are from local cell numbers
there all robot calls , i even ignored one that has called daily for the last week straight lol the program i have on my cell will pop up and say its listed as a mass call number (others that have the same program have blocked it), do i want to answer or just auto block so much for the do not call list lol |

I dont answer unkown numbers for this reason, it's a security issue any more. |

I hate phone calls anyway. I only talk to my parents in Germany 3x per week.

I have caller ID and a phone with voicemail I rarely. Take calls. I have returned a few at times. I do make calls and talk to friends for hours sometimes.

If i don't know the number calling,
I don't answer. And, half the time, i won't answer the numbers i do know. Unknown caller? By appointment only. Also, if it isn't a situation that involves the police, an ambulance, or a firetruck. Don't call me after 9:00 p.m. CST, unless you want to become involved in a situation that involves, the police, an ambulance, and a firetruck.  |

I don't answer unknown callers period. My kids and I have a code in case of emergency.

Don't call me after 9:00 p.m. CST, unless you want to become involved in a situation that involves, the police, an ambulance, and a firetruck. I'm that way with mornings.. Do NOT call me before 9:30 AM, period. IF anyone calls before that, it better be a damn emergency.. (FWIW, people that know me know this rule, and I tell the few, rare people I give my number to of this, and yet...I got a call this morning from someone at 8:02...good thing I turn the ringer off at night (gotten a few wrong numbers at 3AM)... Yurns out they "butt disaled" me by accident. I have a landline, and an unlisted phone number...it shows as "Private" or "Restricted"...that's they way the phone company does it, not *my* doing. I will usually inform people of this when they want me to call them, and generally tell them when abouts I'll be calling so they will know it is me and not a telemarketer. |

So what were they yelling? "Hey! You didn't answer your phone when I wanted you to because it's all about me and you're here for my gratification and convenience when I need you to be!" Or was it a work thing? Do you work at a customer service call center? That might affect your yearly performance review "Now, Mr. Datwasnt we try to accommodate special needs, but avoidance phobias regarding unrecognized phone numbers cannot be tolerated." am i the only one avoiding the robot calls ? I don't even have my ringer or vibrate turned on. If they need me, they can leave a message or text. I'm not a 14 year old girl anxiously waiting for Billy to call me because I put my number and that I like him in a note I gave to my friend to give to a friend to give to one of his friends to give to another of his friends to give to him so he'll call me. People were downloading unknown sender auto-reply email programs, so auto-email sending programs would send to auto-reply, which would then generate more auto-sends. There are warehouses full of machines and a corner of the internet walled off where computers have been auto talking to each other since 1994. If you download an auto block app, then robo-callers will download an auto unblock block app or new phone numbers to try, and we'll get Y2K all over again, and phone numbers will begin to have letters and symbols in them. Then the phone company will have to install more phone lines and data streams, and all our bills are going to go up, and it's bad for the environment. So basically, every time you don't get scammed you're killing a polar bear. |

If I don't recognize the number I don't answer.
If a woman wants to call me and I give her my number I need her to message me with her last four digits or I won't pickup. I have answered calls from numbers I don't recognize if they are from the area code where I know my family lives. If I get a call from a 573 area code, I know its one of my kids. If I get a call from a 814 area code I know its is my sister's family. My one son that lives in this region knows the ring code in case he is stranded somewhere. I also delete 99% of my emails. I have 5 email accounts and only one of them is my family account. I don't even open M2 emails, straight to delete. When I get a notify of a message, I just sign in to M2 and look. Same with the other sites I frequent. |

If I'm not doing anything I'll answer them and occupy them as long as I can.
I figure if I keep them busy that stops them from bothering someone else and I enjoy it but I'm kind of a sick monkey. My recent favorites are the "big chance to save on paying your student loans", I've never had a student loan. And the "we can help you with your $15,000 dollar or more credit card debut", I paid off any credit cards I had a few years ago before I retired and don't even have any anymore. Just my bank debut card. The ones that piss me off the most are the I can barely speak this language ones. |

If it was an emergency it's obvious you weren't necessary to its resolution. = they wanted the tow behind trailor in my yard , there cell got left at home , so he was using a friends cell ... i am the last person someone would use the cell to get a hold of me , i live in a gully / side of a hill i miss like 99 % of me calls cause they dont get signal enough So what were they yelling? I don't use my phone for that lol I prefer texting texting is nice , but you can miss read stuff voice is a little less complex to figure out <shrug> as well as i have never, and will never, text and drive its just not worth it so for me most times its easier to call , even it i have to go outside sometimes to place that call lol |

I'm with Bluegrass. I have a landline with an answering machine. I do NOT have caller ID. 90 % of the time I do not answer untill after my message kicks in. If its a robo call they hang up. If its a doctor, friend or family and they begin to leave a message, I pick up and say hello. As someone else stated, the phone is for ME, not for the caller.
