these must be popular tools/apps, or whatever. THere seems to be an automatic assumption that everyone uses them. I get so many requests to provide my Kik or Whatsapp information. Does anyone else get these requests very often?

My cell phone is basically used for contacting family on occasion. I still have not got on the bandwagon of using a phone as a computer, I have an ACTUAL computer for that, so I dont do the apps and other things, except maybe for a map because I don't want to purchase a GPS.

they are 2 very well known apps
i dont use either

and yes i get requests all the time , and the answer is still nope lol

now as for a g.p.s.
...... you will need air time and a compatible cell
you can then download Wayz http://www.waze.com/
to your cell , its a free to use and download , so that should save ya from buying one : ) as well as its better then most g.p.s. cause people can point out stuff... like cars parked on the side of the road , obstetrical's in or buy the road , cops , as well as traffic and axidents

and if it finds a better route around traffic/cops/axidents , it will let you know and will ask if you would like to be rerouted

I get those requests a lot, and I don't use either of those apps. If someone asks me, I ignore them.

They're popular with scammers and spammers mostly. I don't use them or other apps like them, I have no use for such things.

I've asked this before, NEVER got a reply: What do you Americans mean when you say "Text message"?
These days over here that IS WhatsApp. NO ONE uses SMS anymore. The last time I had to use it cos some guy didn't have a smartphone yet, I didn't even know how to use it anymore.

Kik, nope. Briefly had that to talk to a guy I knew from here, NOT for sex chat. Haven't got it anymore, not will I install it again. Why should I? Everyone uses WhatsApp.

I use it mostly with my kids and mom and close friends. It's THE NR1 go-to app to communicate.
I guess it's different in the USA??

To be totally honest... if someone does NOT have WhatsApp I assume they're living in the stone-age still, haha. Not joking. Everyone has WhatsApp, if you don't you are seriously weird.

Yes! AND free phone calls, and video chat. Although sometimes connection is wishy-washy over here. PRoblem this area has got, regardless of phone provider.

I can't believe I'm defending facebook, but I'm not sure WhatsApp is to blame for how foreigners abuse it any more than Mingle is responsible for the way scammers abuse it. Any good and reliable system or service is susceptible to abuse, regardless of its intentions.

I use WhatsApp to talk to my friend in India. We call each other for free, which is nice because I have no idea if you've ever seen a phone bill for calling India, buuutttt...

I have whatsapp , Viber and Kik .. they are great for chatting and sharing photos/videos with family and friends overseas . Much more convenient that using email.
they are just free multimedia apps ., with privacy settings and block function . Easy to install or remove .. how you use them is up to you .

I never give access to anyone I don't know and trust ., it is commonsense .

I don't use any of those aps for two reasons: one, I don't have a personal cell phone any more, just one provided for work, and I'm prohibited from adding personal aps like those to it.

The other reason is that I am a confirmed fuddy duddy snob. All those aps have the reputation with me, for being for the kind of people who are involved with lots of surface nonsense, like sending each other dick pics or boorish "memes", or for young people to flirt and sext each other.

My work-provided phone has unlimited texting built in, easily linked directly to the person's phone number, so there's no extra ap required.

As for GPS functions, we use Google Maps, which is a free ap, and that has GPS built into it that's good enough for me. I only had to buy a dashboard clip to hold the phone up where I can see and hear it as I drive.

Hum well you can say this is a reply i guess. in the USA. I never use " text me. " . If a person " honest or not gets your real cell number for 25 us dollars they can find your real name / address. From what i've seen it is a a scammer ploy to get your phone number. Next whatsapp. Well call me caveman then. Never had it. Knoticed mostly undesirables use it. So most likely never will use it. As most have said. 2 things to factor in common sense and experiences.
