I've told several men that message me about the Forums here.
They say, What Forums!

Many have no clue that the site has forums due to that is not what they are looking for...

But yes everyone has access to the forums..

OT... I've gotten the same response Toody when I used to message back. They are accessible to all, just not everyone gets that Mingle has a forum. They probably don't understand that "community" is the same as forums.

You don't even need to sign up. The forums can be viewed without logging in.

I'm sure River is right, but I also think some people just don't like forums. My experience with other forums is that the vast majority of people steer clear of them.

Many don't like the attitudes of the people that frequent the topics they are interested in.

Others don't like how easily a thread strays off-topic.

Some just don't like how quickly they can fall behind on an active thread. Too much reading. Too time-consuming. Etc.

Point is, probably 80% - 95% of people on any site avoid the forums on that specific site.

I understand many do not use them ... but they really should ...

And some on the app prefer the instant response in the chat rooms. Sometimes in the forums you might not get a response. drinks

Mingle2 used to have an Instant Messaging system, but it was disabled during my absence.

I had used it previously. I'm guessing it may have been abused by scammers, though I never experienced that.

In all fairness,
there are indeed people who have been
here for at least as long as I have, who
know about the forums. But, have never
posted.

It's just not their thang.

From my observations in this forums and others,I've figured out a few things.

1. Some don't like to type. A simple message could look insurmountable to them. They may love to talk to people, but typing out a message won't work for them.

2. Spelling mistakes. Some just don't want to look dumb. I'm not familiar with the androids. I don't know if they have spellcheck. I'm on a laptop, mine has that feature, and I use it. (Like I just did)

3. The topics might not interest them. That's understandable.

4. I see a lot of cut & paste used. I have one dead laptop that got polluted from a cut & paste, go to this webpage to see what I'm talking about, proof. Those posters may spend actual money on their anti-virus. Their proof cost me. So, they may think their points are valid. I choose to not fact-check their junk. One, occupy democrats is about the worst thing you can invite into your pc. You can get bombarded by their garbage, and advertisements. If you're not capable of holding up your end of a conversation, write what you think, convincingly, then you don't deserve to be talked to.

5. Frequent posters. They don't want to listen. Their opinion is everything. Your's is zilch. And they dump your posts because it interferes with their propaganda. So sorry, I don't happen to agree with you. You do have the right to say whatever you think. It's too bad I'm not extended the same courtesy.

This is my opinion. If you don't like it, I'm sure it will vanish in thin air. They always do.

I frequent at least 10 different forums of which dating forums (M2) is merely one.
I have been on forums since they were known as message boards.
Over the years +75 different ones.

I noticed a sharp decline in the activity at forums when android type phones went mainstream but I still see some activity that I can tell comes from an app like tapatalk.

I think the major factor is the onset of textspeak via phone.
Forums thrived when people using them had access to a keyboard.
Forums are best when a post can be made in long written form.
Phones do not provide the full views a monitor does.
Posts are mainly read line by line (so to say).
Images are wonky depending on the apps you have to allow their view.

Texting is the new norm but some of us still prefer the dinosaur and bang away on a keyboard while looking at a monitor.
Frankly, I don't care how someone posts or what they use to post.
I like reading what others have to say.

One of the communities I admin at enabled tapatalk for our phone users.
It allows people with the app to participate when they normally couldn't.
There is also the ability to view the page in 'browser view' which loads the page as a webpage in a browser.

The result is still the same.
Short replies of 1 or 2 lines with weird gaps in the sentences.
A grammar nazi would have a ball with those but I encourage our members to participate whatever way they can.

Since I have a decade of forum use already, when I go to a site, I always look for a community or forum or message board. I naturally gravitate to them because I enjoy reading what others have to say.

Just because someone doesn't use or care about forums doesn't diminish them.
I know of many sites (with forums) that I frequent yet never even look at the forums.

Try to remember that each person uses this site for their own reasons.
