Do South African Caucasians realize that being on this site, it will be mainly black people here for the obvious reasons being in the majority population. And stating that you only date a particular race it being a preference yes, but isn't it a racist statement somewhere somehow

If there was no discrimination in partnering, you would have to marry the very first human you see of the opposite sex or same sex, as soon as you reach legal consent age. That could get ugly.

Everyone likes what they like, and wants what they want, in a 'free world'.

There has to be 'the rejected' in order to have 'the selected'.

You have to categorise in order to see the selectable range available.

You gotta break eggs to make an omlette.

It's all choice.

I'm an old white guy; is your sister available.

Did that give you a moment of discrimination ?

Stating a particular race saves a lot of people a lot of otherwise wasted time.

^^^^ This, beautifully phrased, kudos!

Apart from that I wonder if it isn't time for black people to get over themselves and feeling sorry for themselves?
Why do we Caucasians have to pay the price for you feeling inferior?
It's really wearing thin that non-Caucasians scream "discrimination" every chance they get, usually to get superior treatment when in actual fact there's no reason for it whatsoever. Why should you get more than Caucasians? If you want equality act like it and treat us as equals as well.

Of course it is racist, any time you exclude/prejudge
a group of people by their color/race..hello.

Likewise, your statement addressing the non-majority
South Africans is also racist as you bracket them
altogether by race for your question.

Does it matter? Probably not on a dating/social site.
People have comfort levels they want to maintain.
Preferences scoot the process along faster.

The only positive thing I can derive from all the people who twist logic around to pretend they aren't racist, is that at least they recognize that being racist isn't a good thing.

But just recognizing that you don't want to be thought of as one, doesn't change whether you are one or not. That is determined by how you conduct your life.

Why yes! The use of guilt and manipulation, to goad
someone of another race into dating you, is indeed
racist of you.

I am not being facetious. But there is certainly not 'mainly black' people on this site. You and I are one of maybe a hand full that post in these threads, and that is rounding up. And in the states, we only have preferences in dating, even if those preferences are predicated on ancestry, or 'race'.

Although, personally, I find race based preferences, by definition, RACIST. In the states, we do just say its 'preference' to avoid argument and call it a day.

is it time for everybody to 'get over themselves'? I mean, what 'price' is anyone paying for other people's feelings or opinions?

Where is anything here saying anyone feels 'inferior' simply for asking a question about racism?

What is superior about merely not being excluded on the basis of ancestry? Where did anyone state someone should get more?

I'm not sure what prompted such a post, but it is a surprise.

G`day.

Seeing how Glen was from South Africa, perhaps he felt that race preference
was reminiscent of the days of "Apartheid" that was the political and social system of that country. { WikiLeaks: 1948-27 April, 1994 }

People are always going to have "preferences" on what type of person that they would like to meet, especially if they are trying to find a life partner or soul-mate, mate.{Australia}
I would not say that this is being racist.

Cheers,
Richard.

I agree with Richard people will always have preferences in who they hire, who they date, who they associate with, who they educate. I think if those preferences are based around individual character or behavior or experience, that is one thing. I think if they are based around what ancestry one had, it is a racist preference. I think if they are based around what nation one is from, it is a nationalist preference. I believe if it is based around gender, it is a sexist preference.

Those are just definitions. And we can embrace and justify them or deny them. I am personally sexist in whom I date. I will not go out with women. We are not anatomically compatible for the intimacy I desire. Being a woman, I love women. I just don't choose to MAKE LOVE With them.

I think the other thing is separating preference from MANDATES. I actually could say I have a sexist MANDATE. I WILL NOT DATE A WOMAN. period. Other things, like my preference for fellow American residents, is ONLY a preference. Meaning the top of list of things I consider, but not the ONLY thing I consider. I have married a Brit. And I would not be OPPOSED to a relationship with someone not residing in America, it is just not a PREFERENCE amongst options.

anything is a racial statement if you make it one... racism starts most of the time with people who want to say something is racist. not everything is racist or about you...

Personally I think racism starts with electricians... they spend their entire career separating blacks and whites, but they do give the blacks the power, that's because black wires matter

in a purely philosophical sense, EVERY concept or opinion starts when we 'make' it one.

I don't know when racism 'most of the time' starts. In America, it started with killing and selling off certain races of people. And almost always began with people deciding to 'make' them less than human or less human, at least, than those exploiting them.

The rest of it starts with beliefs that races are superior or inferior to each other in one way or another, which justifies all manner of injustice and mistreatment as a result.

By definition, I would say that sentiment would be racist. It requires a generalization about a quality of 'white' people specifically, and about what belongs to 'white westerners' as a culture.

I believe there are strengths and weaknesses, in all 'cultures'. I love the family culture that I often see with Italians and African Americans. I love the culture of excellence that I often see in Asian families. I love the culture of joy I often see in Cajun individuals. I love the culture of community uplifting that I often see amongst the Jewish people.

My point exactly sister why would you say I only date black people or I only date white people.. Shouldn't we relate with people based on their personalities not the color of their skin

Racism did not only happen in South Africa or in Africa only, it happened still is happening everywhere. Whether we are progressing from it is still a debate but in my country saying a racist statement gets you in jail🤞

It is what I would hope for. But it is not the case.
