Since we are not born racist (or sexist), we have to realize that it's a LEARNED ideology. And it has to be UNLEARNED.

And no one's going to just sit around ignoring "facts" of what lead to hate, because to fully stop racism everyone has to listen to why they are so blown up at the world?

It's not at all any of us is wrong it's that every damn one of us is right to to be pissed at the other for any reason... And to stop fighting? We can continue to breathe or we can wipe each other out like a flu bug... you take my brother I take yours... when every damn one of us is related down the family lineage... sorry we just are,... I can trace a root of lineage of sharing at least one common ancestor with anybody in the world... I'm not going through the process but it's pretty damn common... that some random guy did research to find out he's related to dr oz and to someone notorious as Jeffery Dahmer... kinda makes ya think? It truly is a small world....

I agree. If a kid shows racist behavior, the parents should be summoned as well.

None of them is guilty of anything? If anything they have to be disciplined... go ahead spoon him whip the parent's too... it's just going to tick them off... grown *** man getting a beating over my son's behavior... bs....

I have looked into every person's eyes and seen what starts hate... you need to start being more of a nerd and listening to star wars... cause to truly use "the force" Is to know light from dark... The darkness draws power from life flows it into rage and destruction tearing trees life all forms of communication verbal or physical love is ripped from it's roots... and stains the grass with our blood...

Light brings peace into our hearts verbalizes truth and reason and an open concept of freedom... torn villiages are repaired based off the person's heart and forgiveness for his actions he may have caused...

Long lost is the root of black or white... red or grey... gay man strait man, woman or lesbian... it is just the fact to endure life... minding your own damn business if you have nothing good to say... and good luck to yall cause I am out of time...

Yes, it is a learned behavior but not strictly from our parents but also our environment especially during our growing up years. When we observe or have negative experiences predominately from one demographic group, we associate that behavior with that demographic group. Makes no difference if that demographic group is based on race, gender, social status, nationality, religion, or education. We conclude those people and any others that fit in that demographic group are bad people we don't want to associate with. That will not change unless we encounter a significant number of people in that demographic group that we conclude are not bad people and do not have that specific undesirable behavior.

Over the years, I've come to recognize that racism is a lot more complicated and subtle than I first thought it was, when it was described to me in my earliest years.

It's not just "people who think people who don't look like them are inherently inferior."

And it can't be fixed simply by outlawing rude name-calling, or bad public behavior.

I don't agree that it is entirely "learned." It CAN be built into learning experiences, overtly as well as not; and some of it can be reduced by forcibly altering some training. But some of what turns into what we call racism, comes about by other means.

Mainly, by simple "otherism." It does no good to tell everyone that it's wrong or false to segregate by race, if you are also telling them that it IS okay to segregate by political opinion, by wealth, by job skills, by speaking abilities, and so on.

Some APPARENT racism, from what I've seen, really isn't racism. I'm thinking here, of people who seem to like folks when they are doing well for them (like sports figures) but when those people mess up or disappoint, some will go back to whatever mental bin full of insults they maintain, and spout the most insulting or hurtful things they can dredge up. (Minor note, that is perhaps what happened with Michael Richards, when he panicked and spouted a bunch of racist epithets after being verbally attacked during a comedy show). Sure, a case could be made that if you even know certain words, and think they apply to whatever groups they apply to, that proves you are racist, but that doesn't quite feel like a complete analysis of the situation to me.

And no, I have never myself spouted any racial epithets ever in my life. Not because I have no racisms in me, or because I'm magically "nice" or anything, it's just that I am not a name-caller person. Never have been. Seems to be genetic, since my parents weren't either, and neither was anyone else in my family. We didn't even have to be overtly trained not to do it, we just didn't.

When will racism end .. when the sky falls .. despite our awareness of the harm it does . Racism remains one of humanities biggest flaws . divetsity should be celebrated and valued not feared or resented .

As someone who faced quite a lot of what might be called racism and prejudice growing up, I came to realise that the only thing you can control is your own reactions and behaviour.

It really saddens me.Those of you who follow soccer might have heard of it. This last few weeks there has been racial tweets on various players. For what? For doing their jobs and entertaining us? The latest bunch of all was a couple of days ago in ITALY! A group of supporters were monkey-chanting an opponent player before and after taking a penalty kick. The funny thing is that the club for which the player is playing said it is not meant as a racist chanting. Shameful
Its not only soccer. Its everywhere. When I hear international news, I hear this issue on a daily basis like Dorian (God help all the people)
I still couldnt fathom we are still talking about it on this century and 2019.
Please lets all do our bit in eradicating it

When is racism going to end? When there'll be no more war... So we got quite a ways yet.

It will never end because people distinguish themselves from others by caste, class, religion and in numerous subtle other ways. It is unavoidable and is part of what makes us who we are. Strip people naked, make them a nice shade of green, come back in twenty years and you'll find that they've distinguished themselves by hairstyle. This process can never be stopped but it could be suppressed for a while (perhaps as long as a century) by imposing some chosen solution and killing the countless millions of people who would resist the efforts to ban every distinction that might lead to discrimination.

 Yep. And that will pretend to be civilised in another effort to discriminate against those deemed not civilised by the medias or other "free-thinking"
geniuses but hey, let's just drop a huge f-ing bomb on those uncivilised people...just to show them how to be civilised whoa

ISMs will never go away. They are human nature. IF we recognize differences, which we should in my opinion, some will take those differences further to imply superior/inferior value. Different is just different. But to the bigot, different implies 'better' or 'worse'.

In short, as long as there is the logical, there will be the illogical.
As long as there is love, there will be hate.

The good comes along with the bad. It's the balance of life. And we should always strive to have more of the former than the latter, but never expect to completely eradicate either.

Why did I get my eyes glue at the point where you highlighted when the players don't score? Not sure it's funny, but I smiled. Anyways, racism, is a sickness in my own opinion
