All brilliant responses, thanks.. smokin

Sir, I also think bigotry is mislabeled. People often do not understand definitions and label ANY bigotry as racism. That is obviously not the case. Racism is specifically rooted in race, which in America counts as Asian, African American, Caucasian, pacific islander, or native American.

There is a big issue with nationalism, which is blind devotion to or assumption about individuals from a certain geographic area. I think nationalism is a bigotry often mislabeled as racism. But both come mostly from ignorance and ego, in my opinion.

Thanks again ms.. I come from Belfast in the North of Ireland, I have been surrounded by bigotry and sectarianism my whole life, I certainly can tell a bigot when I see one.. For me, as I have stated on this thread a few times, is that there is no middle ground.. Racism Bigotry Sectarianism, all those Isms, It is all the same to me. I'll use a quote "An injustice to one is an injustice to all." I may not be as articulate as some of the contributors on this thread, but at least I will have my say.. Bless and One Love..

I wouldn't worry about it too much, Crystal. The loonie leftists hijacked the word, so that it's lost it's former meaning. Now it's just a word that is supposed to be a derogatory term to whoever disagrees with the left - so it doesn't really matter. These insane leftist call people like Candice Owens, Jesse Peterson and Sherriff David Clark racist for exposing what is happening in their community. The irony is, the antifascists are fascists, the progressives are regressing, and the ones screaming for tolerance is the most intolerant of them all. Let them call you a racist, it doesn't mean anything anymore. And when there is the real threat of people believing in their superiority, I'm certain that everyone will band together and stop it - just like we did the last time

Bigotry trying to preach to us about racism. How ironic.

Is ironic, Bastet - Or did you just prove my point?
Trying to call me a derogatory name for pointing out what the leftists like to do. I nowhere defined what racism was nor did I preach anything other than the tactics that the left like to deploy, and how the word lost its meaning because of it. When a leftist's argument has no merit, they resort to name calling. Thank you for beautifully illustrating my point.

I agree with you Ladywind, they are being harsh to Crystal, and that's what made me speak to this in the first place

You are also right, Dino. The thread was not about Crystal _ but once there was an opposing view, someone certainly made it about her

I didn’t call you anything, I pointed out a comment riddled with bigotry on a topic about racism. The last sentence in your comment defined racism.

When you say you won't be in a relationship with someone from a different ethnicity mean that you have something against them or us. see I am black. a strong black man who loves you for you, no matter colour or race.
is it that you have been in a relationship with someone I'd call a bit different and you got hurt. if so, let me open your eyes to something maybe you didn't know, everyone is who you perceive them to be.

It's just that other people judge and label you a racist when you truly are not.
Example...
I have nothing against people from other countries, religions, and so on. But I do not agree that they all should come here and drain our system.
That is NOT racist, yet many see it that way. But I have nothing against these people.

I don't want a relationship with someone from another race/culture/religion. Not because I have something against any of those, but because I know it doesn't work with me as it'd bring too many changes that I'm not willing to implement.
It's knowing who I am, what I need, what I stand for. Not racism. Yet many will see it that way when mentioned.

That's the problem with so called racism. It's gone too far. You cannot say anything anymore or you're a racist.

Very wise words

most are, but there are very different levels

Most racism is chalked up to ignorance. When you think you know about an individual only by their 'race', that is racism born of ignorance.

The only thing a person's race tells you FOR SURE, is about their ancestry. Whether someone is black or white, they are one of the billions in the same 'race' that are individuals and have many differences. Even in America, A black person from suburbia may be more like a white person from suburbia than a black person from the hood. Yet, people place everyone in a box and assume race is going to automatically tell you about 'culture' or customs or beliefs or values or interest of that person.

That is about ignorance. And living in the USA, going to the US school system, immersed in US media, I believe at least 95 percent of us have that to some degree. It takes an interest in UNLEARNING that way of thinking that most do not have.

Growing up in Boston, I learned about racial hatred first in the hospital from some nurses and doctors, later from my relatives and people in general. But it was the overall treatment by the hospital staff towards me, as a mixed race kid, that made it hard for me to condemn all white people, and it was easy to understand that in every race of people there is good and evil! Period.
