Topic: I'm not a racist, but...

No. You're wrong. When I go to a black neighborhood in N.Y. I am nervous. But I love a lot of black people ( I am a good portion black, despite what my photos look like). My grandfather had crosses burned in his yard for being a "mix". But.. it's natural to be prejudice, not o.k. to be racist... that's my only point.

Your fear doesn't make me wrong, I go to all white areas and sometimes I feel scared, it's not because it's a white neighbourhood, there are dodgy places all over the world, and I'm sure some people that live there feel unsafe also..

I have an honest question. Is there a place on earth where "racism" does not exist? I said before, in a previous post that there is a "middle ground", it's called prejudice. Jessie Jackson said once that he was relieved to see someone behind him was white instead of black walking down a street in N.Y. That's my middle ground. Prejudice (Pre-Judging) and racism are not the same thing. Everyone is prejudice , few admit it.

Rabbit.

I would say, yes, in places where identity is more about ethnicity or nationality than race. Prejudice exists everywhere, but it not always 'race' based. Racism is a race based prejudice. Because of the founding of the USA being somewhat constructed around racism, it is ingrained into the fabric of our system.

We're all racist. We have all kinds of biases ingrained in us. The question is whether or not you are actively seeking to deprogram yourself, and seeking an answer as to the social and historical causes behind the inequalities in the world. When someone says, "I'm not racist!" I just roll my eyes. They tend to wear a red hat, and quite often fly a treasonous flag on the back of their truck.

I do not need any questions, I think we all know what it is..smokin

Racism...

Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.

 smokin

Not necessarily so.
Is it racist if the other person who just happens to be another race, also coincidentally is living up to a social stereotype that is considered loathsome behavior by yourself and other individuals?

The majority of common racism in the werld today, is negative racism. But also, there is a thing called positive racism that most simple minded folk are unable to comprehend, and so aren't worth wasting your time with. Because they will refuse to negotiate let alone reason with reasonable sensibilities.
Just because they are set in their ways, and just don't give a flying (censored censored censored censored).

There are those of all races who display loathsome behaviour, I don't think ignorance excuses it, those who live up to social styeotype have no mind of their own.. I've never heard of positive racism..

I practice positive racism, in trying to observe and acknowledge the true owners of the stolen land I live on, and their beliefs and customs that I know of. And feeling their loss in a way, seeing their land ruined by us foreign occupiers, since I also love nature, undisturbed. I like their ancient cultures, before christians and squatters and hunting parties changed it.

My own culture is a planet polluting failure so far, compared with their 50,000 year plus culture of looking after the land.
Call that what you will.

You don't think you hold subconscious biases that you cannot deprogram yourself from? I care about actual social sciences, sorry. I like to read.

Not where race is concerned, I grew up surrounded by bigotry hatred and sectarianism, and here in the North of Ireland it still has an ugly face that is very clear to the naked eye, of course I have biases..
