I look at their profiles on the sites and my heart just melts....I want them all, it is instant attraction. I look in their eyes and fall instantly in love. And that is exactly how I feel when I look at all the dogs and puppies wanting homes on the adoption websites....lol and yet why do I not feel instantly attracted to all these online profiles where dating is concerned? It is so hard to connect. As I have gotten older it is the personality that wins me over, does the guy have a sense of humour, does he laugh at the things I laugh at, are we on the same page where lifestyles and ethics are concerned? Are our conversations engaging or just small talk? It is hard to know when doing online dating. Can anyone give me some pointers? If only it was as easy as adopting precious pups.

My best advice (and I do hate cliches') is go with your heart tempered by your intelligence that you're already showing just be extra careful which is (sadly) needed in 2020. BTW 420 friendly means he's OK with weed. 420 = cannibis |

I think it went with their musical preferences, which matched mine and far more people in the UK smoke cannabis than you would think. |

I was confused by that also The OP begins talking about Dog Rescue websites, dog profiles and photos melts her heart, and then she talks about dating site profiles and photos having no effect on her. That is my understanding of the Post, I could be wrong. |

Dating sites are just another way of meeting someone, until you meet them and start dating in the real world, you are not going to find all the answers to all the questions you raise. You can learn a lot about each other by exchanging a few emails before making the decision to meet, but you need to take a chance and go on a date or it will go nowhere. Good luck in your search, |
