Don't you have to have a location to be on Mingle?

Considering the way I presented it would that question offend you? I'm just trying to get a better feel on how to handle things of this nature in the future.

You have to learn to listen to your gut and trust it. That's in essence all we got, especially online.

We don't know the whole of the conversations you two had, how confidential that had gotten, or not.
So it's difficult to come with one straight forward answers.
When in doubt it may pay off to look back at the conversations, how they went, if there was any odd anything at some point.

We also don't know how exactly you asked that question and what the context at that moment was, the vibe etc.
If in the future a similar thing occurs make sure you ask the right way, meaning it cannot easily be taken as offensive.

But then there's her flying of the handle which is not a mature reaction. Maybe she wasn't honest, maybe she was easily ticked off.

All in all I think I'd cut my losses and move on. And bear in mind that we are looking for that one special person, which means that most we talk to, or date even, are not it. That's not to despair, you can also think "I'm one person closer to the one for me!"
And learn, so you go through the sifting and sorting process faster.

Good luck!

It wasn't controversial at all (not even close) actually. She reached out to me and in my reply I told her about me and told her that I noticed she resided in the same town I live in and her reply back to me was like I originally described.

Immature I believe says it best but she claimed to be 37 years old and I would have thought differently. Now as far as being honest goes, I don't know because I never got a reply back yet and probably won't either, IMO. I guess it's best I found out now because, it truly shows what type of person she really is if she was even a real person at all (my gut screams she was probably a scammer).

Just a bizarre experience all around to say the least.

I asked a simple question about something this lady mentioned in her profile and she starts yelling at me for asking it. My question is how would you folks handle something like this?

She's a scammer. Delete, block, report, and move on with your life.

If the other person behaves in a way that raises red flags, thats a real problem. Trust is essential. I have had some send me messages when my profile clearly say what I am looking for & what I am not. So why contact someone who clearly does not fit what they are looking for? Communication etc is vital & if you take no notice of what they are saying to start with, thats not going to work

If you get a rude reaction to a simple question , and you have not really started a conversation with a person , I would say that is more then a red flag ...thank your lucky stars you did not get more involved, and run in the opposite direction . It was probably a scammer any way !

Opps, I forgot to mention that part. Here it is in short. She mentioned she lived near me in her profile and when I asked her if that was the case she went off on me.

I'll say, if she's not okay with being confronted with such a question, it is a red flag. You, too, move on. Sweet and simple. Pursuing it any further wouldn't look dignified. I'd also resist from bringing the issue into a public forum, let us respect individual choices. Yes, such things can be frustrating at times, but the very concept of online dating comes with these hiccups, gotta live with it!
Happy Mingling.....

If you mean you need the gun to shoot him, the judge will say "You really need a long prison sentence, and I'm giving you one right now."

oooh...
in that case what do you suggest?

You could tell she was yelling?
Based on font alone?

She said it in all "caps" and I haven't heard a word from her since.

All caps is indeed internet for yelling.
Count your lucky stars, that you dodged that bullet.

They were not genuine, anyone genuine would have politely answered your question, scammers don't like to be challenged, they were definitely not who they say they were in my opinion.

she might be in a bad mood when she saw your messages

I thought about that but she never apologized for her actions or anything. I just see that as a sign of things to come if I were to have pursued and continued with that relationship.

I'm adding my two cents a little late... However, I have noticed with myself I get a little annoyed when people question me when they are the ones with no profile picture and/ or a very weak profile. It appears a bit contradictory to question someone especially with no profile picture. Perhaps build up a more legitimate profile and you may experience a positive impression from the viewer. Good luck!
