Hello all, what country would you say has the best beach culture? I was also wondering what your favorite beach is and why?

The best beach culture is a state of mind not a place. It is an attitude toward the way you live, act and above all love the ocean.

My fav beach is any beach where there is taste waves, fine babes in bikkinis anc cold beer....drinker drinker .

Noosa, Coolum Beach, Agnes Water in Queensland.... North Steyne, Manly, (in Sydney), Bondi is over rated...Byron Bay, Woolgoolga, in Northern New South Wales. Bell's Beach in Victoria...and I already mentioned Western Australia's hotspot..

Good luck with that...all the beaches other than Agnes Water are short board beaches... Agnes is long board country.glasses

cool thanks, I'm a bit spooked about my trip. For some reason I just decided it was time. I am looking at being gone for 18 months. I'm now left with the task of choosing just what to fill it with. My trouble is I don't like big cities and lots of people. There isn't really a lot of information for the more laid back areas of the world.

Only North Steyne is in a city...Sydney, the others are a sojourn into the cooler country towns...

Laidback?

That's most australian's middle name... glasses

Get yourself a copy of The Lonely Planet, and see for yourself... get a hardcopy, it's a traveller's bible of where to go and what to see, and all the places I have mentioned are listed in it....

Something tells me I'm going to love Australia. I wish I could do some wildlife work when i'm there! I work as a wildlife tech in British Columbia. I'm a huge outdoor nut! At work, I sleep outside from about april to september. Its a pretty good time! The fact that laid back is Australia's middle name makes me a happy person indeed!

I like walking along a beach. Any beach. I like warm weather but not overly hot and sunny. I like biking at the beach, walking at the beach and running at the beach.

Crete in Greece has about the most laid-back beach culture that I've encountered. Great seafood, too. The Octopus can't be beat! But, central New Jersey is also very nice. Early June just before beach season starts is ideal. There's no crowds, you have the beaches to yourself and it's peaceful. Perfect for reflection and walking and peace of mind.

Just my opinion. But you're not gonna beat Jersey. No way, no how. No way.

Anywhere but the beaches in and around the L.A. area- too many freaks, too many tragically-hipsters, and too many wanna-bee movie stars wanting to load people with their immense loads of self-important hogwash.

It's a major reason for why I avoid the beach areas at all costs.
