What are the best things and worst things about dating someone over 50? Please share your stories and observations. Is it really any different dating someone over 50 than it was when you were younger? What about relationships? Are they more difficult or more easy?

This is just my honest opinion, but I find it harder in the dating world after the age of 50. I find that most of us in this age group are set in our ways. Mind you I am open minded and consider myself to be flexible (kind of go with the flow) type person. Guess we in the 50's group have maturity on our side and are a bit more cautious.

dating in my life...has been less ....I guess because I just don't want to play the young folks games much. My friends try to set me up with quite a few .... but, I just do not find drinking, smoking, or swinging,as some call it interesting to me at all.(What has happened to just good clean dating?)I am still looking for someone who enjoys the simple things in life first. You Know....getting to know someone first.. maybe a nice walk..maybe a nice dinner out.

I dunno. I dated one gal over 50 (I think she was). She dumped me after the 2d date. Said she was chasing after someone else. I'm corresponding with a couple over 50s here and will meet one shortly. I think we're opinionated and cautious, sure. I think we should be. And I believe in old fashioned dating, dinners out and walks and such. With my budget, though, it's more like snacks out and walking. I think that the Lord will provide us all with what we need. It's not so important who we find or what we do. What's important is our character and how we act personally, you knnow?

And I'm still dealing with the snow and cold here in southern Indiana. We got about five or six inches of snow. I'm kind of hoping that they don't cancel church tomorrow on account of it. I don't think they will though. It's so sunny out that it has to melt some of this stuff off, I would think.

For me dating in my age group, is alot easier. We are more set in what we want from life, have made most of our major decisions, aren't so quick to judge others & just more stable.
I have dated ladies much younger; seem to end up feeling like they were looking for security, more than anything. I won't be a deep pocket/sugar daddy. Seems I have settled on within 5 yrs of my age or it doesn't seem to work.

I'm enjoying dating at this stage of my life, although I must admit I am still new to it. I'm just me when I meet people and if they don't like it, oh well. If we do hit it off, then great. I enjoy being with people.

I can only speak for this time, being over 50. I consider what I enjoy now, as dating. Relationship is an entanglement of sedintary values decided upon to stay where comfortability clothes the person. I personally, put myself out there, engage in people's visibility to breathe and feel life. Death visited our life and is gone now. My desire for relationship is movement and eye to heart contact. One cannot stay still and grow.

For me, I think dating has changed so much since the first time around. It took a while to get used to the idea that women can approach men and not sit back hoping someone notices her. I've also learned that it's more important to me to know what I don't want than to stick to a list of 'wants' in a man. Tall, dark and handsome would have been perfect when I was younger, but I'm much more attracted to what's inside now.

I agree with everything you all have said. My, times have changed.I am a widow and I find that some people expect to much on a first date. I just turned fifty at the begining of March and feel wonderful I am back in school and am imbarking on a new career.

the best ... you dont have to worry about getting your date pregnant most are past menopause. laugh J/K

the best.... really is we know what we are looking for and what we want out of life but that a double edge sword if it doent include us.

the worst is at this time in our life that we can start to enjoy retirement and more freedom health issues start to pop up. if we all knew we were going to live this long we would have taken better care of ourselfs...I sure would have.

I've never dated anyone over 50. I dated one 50 and one 49. One had a lot of issues that I just plain did not want to deal with. The other was nice, but we were just not suited for each other.
I don't know about anyone else, but my 40's were kind of rough. I was looking forward to the 50's being a tad more fun. It's only been a short time, but the jury is still out on that one!!! Nan glasses

Sorry, a bit late! flowerforyou

I think that we do know what we want and thats what we are looking for. I date and I can tell by usually first date if this is what I want. Usually no, but can't quit now!! LOL

I date, and like other people, I can tell by usually the first date if this is who I want to be with!. Usually no, but my options are open, and I will be a little flexable, and tolarent to her wants and needs!
The foundation for a good relationship is COMMUNICATION, COMPROMISE AND COMMITTMENT. I think a good partner is willing to go the extra mile to make their mate feel special. Its just finding the one who fits the total bill!

The Best: Being mature and secure with who I no longer feel I have to try to be what they want.. I am me,,, take it or leave it.

The Worst: It takes a lot longer to clean myself up and look like a girl!!!

Bet you look even better, the morning after.bigsmile bigsmile

I remember when we would be working in the yard, Gwen would be all sweaty, dirty & thought she stank. Give her a BIG hug & kiss & send her to the shower, with me close behind.
I would wake up early & read waiting for her to wake up.
What she thought was her worst, is still some of my best memories.

Think that is how life really is.
