when did terms such as voluptuous and curvy begin to mean overweight chunky or chubby etc? if you recall marilyn monroe was described ad curvy or voluptuous but at what point was she seriously overweight?

Can't we all just say fat? Damn, I hate being political correct and all...but that is what it is, fat. I don't care personally as I'm not attracted to physical traits, but this is really a mind-numbing argument when everyone could just say "I'm fat, take me as I am" or if they are trying to lose weight "I'm fat, but trying to lose weight"...ffs people...

I say fat all the time, but yeah, being p.c. has become tediously in fashion...frustrated

lol thx dragoness...i had no idea...

i just take curvy to mean what it is...that you have curve to your body...ie you are not a straight line from your breasts to your thighs etc etc...and yes i agree Cal and FaL...

my dad always said say what you mean and mean what you say...

i myself have gained some weight but am in the process of losing it in a healthy manner as i was raised to adhere to...however once the weights gone my curves will still be there...theres no changing that.

at the end of the day it doesnt matter to me. i know im healthy if overweight...im strong and have great stamina...all my bloodpressure cholesterol and other levels are actually optimal..neither high nor low...which was something i actually battled when i was underweight. when i look in the mirror i dont see a "fat" woman (and im capable of being pretty vain and looking there often) but im losing the weight (or rather the chubs and chunks here and there) because i also dont see the body i adored two years ago. i love this body but just not as much. and i think being an optimal healthy (and yes i think i look best with a little flesh on my curves) weight would be not only fun to have while i can...but better for me in the long run.

Ah, the "why don't guys like chubby girls" re-post again...

well...

...its all about self-esteem.

And I've posted in these chubby girl threads before, then gotten several dozen "who's viewed you's" of shy chubby girls, who think there is actually hope in the world for chubby girls...

Actually... I look for peace of mind before I look for physique. I would sort of skew your research because I am in no way looking, nor will I most likely ever be looking, for romance here or any other place anytime in the near to distant future.

It is the American Hollywood cultural ideals that make women think they either are no good if they are a few pounds over, or compel them to do the finger-down-the-throat, even if they are like 85 pounds and 5'10" tall...

If size is all that matters to you, then please do not get old. Because the older you get, the more them boobies are going to start sagging, and if you based your initial romance on fake boobs, and false images, then its going to end up in disaster... ir, divorce rates sky-rocketing in the U.S... my view is that it is because too many people are addicted to television and movies, and in those artistic media genres, (for the most part) there is a controlled radius of only thin, "beautiful" people being set in front of a camera... shows you how shallow the typical American cultural opinion has become...

PERCEPTION of one's surrounding world seems to rule the ego and the self-image of both sexes... and with a society that spends hours and hours in front of, or with the television set mindlessly blaring to an empty room... one might consider the population of the survey before assessing the total aspects of all humankind...

Looks may be very deceiving... its been my observation that most culturally acceptable "beautiful" people are also keeping up with trends that mask who they really are, both physically, and more importantly emotionally and psychologically.

When we are old, and holding hands in a wheel chair, do we then prejudice our decisions of life partner by Hollywood's cultural databank?

No...

If I were looking at all, it would be for the girl that is my best buddy, who I can talk to like I talk to my men friends, and as easily so, who loves me for who I am, faults and blemishes included... because to me this is much more honest of an evaluation... than simply looking at bulging biceps and curvaceous cleavages.... in our youth, we have the sexual thing... but as the years wage on and the war of our flesh pounces into the times ahead, just give me a friend, over some kind of sex fiend only interested in a cabana boy for a quick sexual encounter...

I will speak from experience here... sex with my buddy girl, by best buddy, who knows me inside and out... blows away ANY one night stands thrown together because of simple physical attraction...

You have to get around the falseness of people, and the culturally-nurtured prejudices of the "Hollywood Idealism"... that "-ism" is damn near a religion to some... perhaps many... but in my opinion, shallow and tasteless... of which I would prefer to avoid...

sorry but what some women claim as curvy i call fat....turn off. hour glass figures have curves, but the OP isn't refering to that,if you consider side views of fat being curvy than maybe a physics major would agree, but doesn't mean he'd date ya

ya but didja ever notice that it's these guys with beer guts and stupid T-Shirts on who insist on having a woman who looks like Megan Fox? good grief.

I am about 10-15 pounds over weight still from being off with an athletic injury - I was about 30lbs over, but even then I got more attention from guys who were thinner while at the same time reading overweight men on the internet saying they wouldn't accept a gal with a few extra pounds. kinda funny really

a lot of time I think it's how the weight is distributed. Some frames can carry a few extra pounds and not look "fat" especially if the person (male or female) is in good athletic condition

and yes, please, don't date me. I prefer a man who likes me as I am. I will continue to lose some weight as I gradually resume my work outs, and as I regain my normal size, I will remember who still liked mt anyway when I was heavier, and I will kick to the curb the guys who r all of a sudden interested now that I am thinner.

Being a few pounds overweight (even tho it was not on purpose) has been an excellent litmus test as far as the integrity of the guys I am meeting - weeds put the shallow ones
