Has anybody elses loved ones got mixed up in drugs and ruined te relationship?
This poem always reminds me of my Ex:

Take Me in Your Arms
(Miss Heroin)

So now, little man, you've grown tired of grass
LSD, goofballs, cocaine and hash,
and someone, pretending to be a true friend,
said, "I'll introduce you to Miss Heroin."

Well honey, before you start fooling with me,
just let me inform you of how it will be.

For I will seduce you and make you my slave,
I've sent men much stronger than you to their graves.
You think you could never become a disgrace,
and end up addicted to Poppy seed waste.

So you'll start inhaling me one afternoon,
you'll take me into your arms very soon.
And once I've entered deep down in your veins,
The craving will nearly drive you insane.

You'll swindle your mother and just for a buck.
You'll turn into something vile and corrupt.
You'll mug and you'll steal for my narcotic charm,
and feel contentment when I'm in your arms.

The day, when you realize the monster you've grown,
you'll solemnly swear to leave me alone.
If you think you've got that mystical knack,
then sweetie, just try getting me off your back.

The vomit, the cramps, your gut tied in knots.
The jangling nerves screaming for one more shot.
The hot chills and cold sweats, withdrawal pains,
can only be saved by my little white grains.

There's no other way, and there's no need to look,
for deep down inside you know you are hooked.
You'll desperately run to the pushers and then,
you'll welcome me back to your arms once again.

And you will return just as I foretold!
I know that you'll give me your body and soul.
You'll give up your morals, your conscience, your heart.
And you will be mine until, "Death Do Us Part"

Yes. I have had too many addicts in my life. It is hard being in a one sided relationship which is what you have when you are with an addict.

My Name: Is Cocaine

I cause people grief, I cause people pain,
you may not know me, my name is cocaine.
I make people cry, I make people shout,
try me twice and you'll never get out.

Once you try me, you'll want more,
I live all around you, I might live next door.
When I possess you, you'll steal, cheat, and lie,
the crimes you'll commit just to get high.

If you need me, I live all around,
I live in your schools, I live in your town.
I'll take everything from you, your morals your pride,
once I'm with you, I’m always by your side.

You'll steal from your mom, and lie to your dad,
even when they cry you are never sad.
Come with me and do my ways,
forget your family and how you were raised.

I turn people from family, and separate friends,
and I'll be your friend in the very end.
Once you're with me you'll never love again,
You'll fade, and blow away with the wind.

I'll take away your family, your friends, your home,
then you won't have anyone, you'll be all alone.
I'll take until you have nothing left to give,
when I'm done with you, there will be no will to live.

I'm warning you this is no game,
you'll be lucky if I don't drive you insane.
I live with you everywhere, even in your bed,
the things you will see inside of your head.

Now that I've got you, you'll never be free,
at the end you'll regret ever trying me.
You should have said no, and walked away,
but instead you said yes and choose to stay.

I can bring more sorrow and misery that words can tell,
if you try me I'll lead you straight to hell.
Now I'm your master, you are my slave,
I'll go with you everywhere even to your grave.

Now that you're met me, what will you do?
will you try me or not, it's all up to you.

-As far as your question is concerned; No,I have never been
in that type of relationship nor would I ever allow myself
to be caught up in that type of living hell.I'm sorry that
you went through this & I sincerly hope that you learned
from this terrible experience.I did lose my sister-in-law
to drugs however.I loved her very much & miss her greatly;(
I dedicated this song"Little Sister"by Jewel Kilcher to her.

Listen to me
From deep down inside
I'm the madness that just
Will not die
With no regrets
Of what I'll do to you

Before the night is over
You'll be crawling to me

You call me when you're weak
For me you'll lie and cheat
You'll never get away
With me you're here to stay
Listen to me can't you see
Stay with me and you'll be free
Even as I soothe your soul
I tear you down and make you old
You just keep on coming back
To buy another nickel sack
Twelve o'clock time to greet
Agony and ecstasy
Ecstasy
I'm the cry from within
From when your day begins
You'll follow me like sheep
This shepherd never sleeps

So tell me what's your price
Came skate on my ice
My blades they never rust
I'm asking you to trust

Listen now the time is right
And what a way to start the night
Spend your money endlessly
Another grand insanity
So my friend. here is the plan
I'll make your brain a rubber band
Time to stretch it out and see
Agony and Ecstasy
Ecstasy
Feel my whisper through your haze of pain
Feel the calling of a neon vein
I'm the name upon your soul's marquee
I am agony and ecstasy

And just remember
If you ever need me I'm here

Don't we all just wish.
That after we are gone.
Someone remembers us.
Maybe in a forum somewhere, among strangers.
No matter the cause of our passing.
They speak of us with fondness, and respect.

How nice would that be?

Thanks for bringing that home.waving

You are right Roco-

It is not the vice you choose- it is the void that needs filling by what ever measure you choose to do it by...that place inside you that is lacking and dark and lonely that needs to be quenched (drowned is a more accurate word) because it is never quenched.

Once within your borders it steals ,kills and destroys with no remorse- I grew up in it and it took me a long time to learn I didnt have to choose that as an adult...

It is a painful existance...no matter what "name" it goes by.

If you are free from it it is my prayer you remain free- if your not free yet, know YOU CAN BE- I am proof of that...
Hugs to all

Addicts slowly kill themselves and others!

Codependency kills!

Didya know that the enablers get even sicker and statistically die before the addict does?

Very insightful. The appetite is indeed insatiable..long term that is. Cure - yes, i suppose every poison has an antedote, but as you so eloquently put it, it is an adult choice...and some may not want the cure.

last year i had the chance to date a woman from a town over..she seemed perfect, nice, worked n took care of her kid...

i had actually just given her my number, and we had been talking..

then i went to one of my musicfests, and saw her there hanging out with a guy i know deals and shoots drugs.

so i checked into it,and she was doing heroin.
that was the end of that.

she still tries to get me to go out with her,but im not even going there.

so yes, drugs ruined what might have been a great relationship.

Drugs was the last straw for me with my former wife. It wasn't our only issue, but it was the one that pushed me out the door. I packed my things, took my son and never looked back. Six months later she was homeless.

She's better these days, but can't can't hold a job and lives of her mom. I think she's about to get married for the third time. I hoipe it works out for her.

I agree it is worse because the damage it does is slow and insidious. The slide from hard drugs is usually very rapid. I've watched friends, including my best friend, destroy themselves a little bit at a time over decades due to alcohol. This is only one of the myriad of reasons I do not drink.

Absolutely and I bet you and I are 2 out of a thousand who'd see the word "drug" and think "alcohol"...even though alcohol is the #1 gateway drug to other hard (illegal) drugs. It's actaully a narcotic type of drug to be truthful.

But on Prohibition...

"Understand that legal and illegal are political, and often arbitrary, categorizations; use and abuse are medical, or clinical, distinctions." Abbie Hoffman

Make it all legal...just work on preventing addiction by putting the drug war on teens...fair enough?

Can't blame the girl for it, though.

Yes It has. I've dated two people who said they used to be an addict some babble about how they arent anymore but I always believed they were behind my back with the withdrawls symptoms and everything else! Drugs and relationships do not mix!

Yes. I learned my lesson the hard way.

I stayed the first time. It took 2 weeks for him to come out of the Meth induced psychosis. I left the second time.
