Hey, I didn't make this up...it's in the "book". Alcohol is a drug so therefore if you drink this drug you're a dope head. It's only fair. If you reply "Jesus made water into wine" and think that negates the "truth" then you'll be in good company when you arrive in hell (according to the bible).

~~~
“nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God” 1 Corinthians 6:10.
“He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.” Numbers 6:3.
“Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die:” Leviticus 10:9
“You ate no bread and drank no wine or other fermented drink. I did this so that you might know that I am the LORD your God” Deuteronomy 29:6.
“Now see to it that you drink no wine or other fermented drink and that you do not eat anything unclean,” Judges 13:4.
“Wine makes men foolish, and strong drink makes men come to blows; and whoever comes into error through these is not wise” Proverbs 20:1.
“Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks” Isaiah 5:22.
“But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.” Isaiah 28:7.
“..and begins to beat his fellow slaves and eat and drink with drunkards” Matthew 24:49.
“For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.” Luke 1:15.
“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.” Luke 21:34.
“Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. Romans 13:13.
“Envyings, murders, drunkenness, reveling, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God” Galatians 5:21
Plus a few dozen more you can find in your little fairytale book thing…as for my view of adults drinking? CHEERS! unless of course you’re a Christian then YOU’RE GOING TO HELL. Repent ye SINNERS, drink not from the tit of the addictive drug beast!
This post was inspired from this report.
"Practicing What they Preach: Most Evangelical Leaders Abstain from Alcohol
A family history of alcoholism and religious teachings were among the reasons cited by the 60% of U.S. evangelical leaders who said they don't drink alcohol socially, CNN reported June 24."
Wait, isn't that also 40% of them who are going to HELL!...
Heaven isn't an easy to receive. It's not a given. You have to earn your way into heaven. Yes drugs, drinking, and all that party stuff is a sin. But there is always a chance to repent and ask for forgiveness of your transgressions.
And there is a big difference from drinking some wine here and there and being a drunkard. We are to remain in a sober mind.
It's as simple as just stop doing the sinful things of which will cause one not to receive the gift of heaven. No one is "damned" we ALL have a chance to share the gift of heaven.
Luke 13:3
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
I hope God kept the receipt for that gift. It doesn't fit all that well and I really don't like the color. Perhaps I could just get store credit?
if spanking works for you,,,use it
just wanted to share my epiphanies for the day,,,thanxhappy
Works for me. Unfortunatly, most people for whom religion works, won't keep it, to themselves.
I've never known a woman who liked to be spanked that didn't have some deep rooted psychological malfunctions. Beyond my ability to accept.
Same with tatoos.
wait....what're we talking about again?
LOL...that's their whole problem...they've pushed their religion so far for so long it's ruined about everything it touches.
Their "good" is supposed to outweigh the likes if the Hitlers and the Dippics from our history. Egads, the religion and the damage done...and is STILL being done, see here how stupid religion has made so many Americans....it's amazing we have this many dumbed down people...
What do you believe evolution to be?
I dont think that question is specific enough,, if they had asked do you think animals have evolved, they may have gotten one answer
if they asked if humans came from apes,, yet another
what does or doesnt fall under the topic of 'evolution' is not clearly understood by many and then there are those who believe some types evolved and others didnt,,(kind of like those who believe there is a creator but not the biblical God)
I think the question is quite specific enough. Either evolution works or it doesn't. If it works, it works for all life everywhere. If that is not understood by someone, they're probably not going to believe that evolution is real. If it is, they probably will believe it is real.
not really, there is a difference in the details,,,,similar to asking if one believes in the story of Jesus birth, some parts may be reconcilable and not others
the same is true of evolution, if it includes big bang, thats not truly reconcilable, if it includes a more common sense explanation of things evolving to their environment , it holds more water
I believe all species evolve , in the sense that they ADAPT to survive, I dont believe that evolution to be as DRASTIC as monkeys becoming humans or amoebas turning into monkeys,,,,,
As I said, you either understand it or you don't. Obviously, you don't understand it. A 150 yrs ago or so, it was widely accepted that God made everything just the way they are. Now it is widely accepted that life adapts and changes. If one accepts that life adapts and changes, one must also accept that with enough adaptations you have a completely different species.
In other words, if one accepts that MICROevolution is real, one must, or should, ask oneself how many MICROS does it take to get a MACROevolution.
While it is somewhat accurate to say that amoebas turned into monkeys, although the are quite a few intervening steps inbetween, not to mention about 3 billion years, it is innaccurate to say monkeys turned into humans. Humans and monkeys shared a common ancester.
Is humor against most religions or what???
I loved it, laughed pretty dang hard, I did.
"Note: Mouse Over Below for Spoiler Alert:
End Spoiler Alert "
Well, then I was right on the money. They don't represent Jesus. drinker
Hallelujah! :banana:
Sad thing is that it would be extremely easy to believe that it represents an actual Christian Church.
Too bad about that. ohwell
Landover IS a satire, however, they base a lot of their stories on what real Christian churches, and especially that Westover Church (the inbred one that boycotts the military funerals), so it may be hilariously funny, but there are actual people who think that way.
Mom had forwarded one article to a friend of hers and the woman wrote back in total agreement with the article, and was pissed when mom told her it was a spoof. The comment was "around here, we believe it".
Why can't we get people who believe like that spade or neutered?
no object is satanic when it comes to something as media or something of such like this. Heck computers must be evil to, you can find ANYTHING on the computer. It's all about how you use that object, weather you're seaking God with it or evil things. Do you use the computer to look at porn and many many other evil things you can do. Or do you use these objects to do normal things and or seak God in one way or other. No object can be linked to Satan, it's about how you use that object.
Take guns for instance.
They can be used in a good way with hunting. But they can also be used in an evil way with murdering. It's all about how that object is used.
Some people think hunting is murdering.
The animals were put here for us to eat. If they were not to be eat'n we would have been told so and or they would be poisonous for us to eat. But none of that exists and only things in the bible saying the animals are here for us to use, for instance God giving us dominion over the earth.
And since humans are animals, it must be ok w/ God to hunt humans.
coolio...
Landover Baptist Church
Where the worthwhile worship "unsaved are not welcome ("as Jesus commanded")
Boy, talk about using Jesus as a pasty doll to preach bigotry, hatred, and divisivness. slaphead
Spreading hate for Jesus sake, what an oxymoron. whoa
And they're concerned about what a few toys might be suggesting to little childern? huh
When I see this kind of bigotry held up in the name of Jesus it just makes me want to puke. ill
It's these kinds of people who make Jesus look like a real jerk.
Of course, in truth, they don't represent Jesus anymore than Osama Bin Laden does.
are you ever NOT on a soapbox?
I am curious what you mean by 'most people for whom religion works, won't keep it, to themselves'
what 'most' are you referring to and in what way are they not keeping it to themselves
I ask because, most things people take an interest in( I would think) are the things they end up talking about and sharing, and I dont see why religion should be any different,,,,
Crap. You make a good point that shows my own bias. I hate it when that happens.
To be honest, I haven't actually been harrased by religious nutters in a while. I was begining to think this whole religious thing was dying out, fading away, like the huluhoop.
Then came the election season. Just about every candidate said something like "Vote for me. God and I buddies and he loves me more than the other guy." Or words to that effect. I'd be much happier if candidates, at least, would keep their religiousness as a personal thing and just tell the public their position on relevant(sp?) topics.
there are differences between old and new testament,, differences which were addressed when Jesus came
that is why it is important to read the bible IN CONTEXT, with an understanding of what was happening, what laws mankind was mandating, and what laws God , Jesus, and the disciples either reinforced or re evaluated.
From my research, it seems that Jesus only got rid of the sacrificial laws. (i.e. The "original sin" and the other laws that had to with the "falling out") Not the other laws, like not working on the sabbath, and stoning unruly children, etc..
my readings never came across Jesus condoning the stoning of children and what I know of the Sabbath has more to do with having a day of rest than giving reverence to one weekday over another
Jesus specifically says not to stone children, we are to spare the rod. People stoned children before, a hand for a hand, all that kind of stuff because we were judged for our sins here on earth. We no longer judge anyone for anything, Jesus is the judge.
A:
I understand. I've seen mathematical proofs that practically anything plus practically anything can equal practically anything. And since the invention of Windows, computers only seem to make sense about 75% of the time. More's the pity.
I doubt you are a bonafide loser. Someone possessing such wonderfull wit as you obviously have would never rank very low in my book.
B:
Unfortunatly, most often, using logic is about as effective on them as pissing in the wind.
A: I was more evil than that. I was trying to say that if you don't give definitions to A, B, and C, then the equation A+B=C is not true for two reasons: 1. It has a very slight chance of being true if you give your readers the freedom to sub values into A, B, and C; and it's also not true because the equation is meaningless without values of the variables, and truth requires meaning.
B:
Have you tried both? (Please say yes. I have a come-back for that too.)
A. I thought it would be obvious that in my description of frustration in the ineffectiveness of using A+B=C, all 3 variables did indeed have specific definitions. Which of course you know because you're just F'ing wit me. duh...sometimes I can be so thick
laugh
yes very true, this does happen. But those that do this is just as lost as the ones that deny the Lord.
Excuse me? I am not "lost"...I am here. I've never used other people's money for anything (well, thanks for bailouts mom)...but even in my anti-teen drinking org I refuse to ask for donations to run it. I also do not claim expenses to recover from tax...nope, not a dime...no new car here...don't need one...especially with about 4K in special equipment.
Have any of you "found" people here given to a church and ignored giving to Save Darfur? Didn't think so but I bet you gave to fund missionaries to "save" these people...er, for Christianity then only to find out that after you leave a Saudi Arabian group comes in and slaughters them for converting. Nice, but at least your preacher got a brand new car!
Hey! Drop a few bucks here:
http://savedarfur.org/
Really.
Donations are to go to the church and it's well being. New carpet, repairs, cleaning, new bibles, and things of that nature. It isn't used for personal gain and if it is then they are in the wrong and will have to answere up to God when the time comes.
Do you really think the people getting rich by running a church give a good godamn about what God thinks?
Must be nice to have no ethics...
The rather large building across the street from my store was bought by a church group. They turned it into a rather large church. They've spent, I'm guessing, hundreds of thousands of dollars remodeling it. Everytime I see something like that, I wonder just how many starving people around the world and in this country died for lack of money,that was spent on such things.
But hey, God has another purty new house and His followers can feel good about that. That's what's important.
Harmony, shaped not bent, huh? Difference?
Religions are the reasons for many many problems in this world we live in.
It makes people feel justified by an imaginary larger than life being to persecute and ostracize those that a man or men have determined
were unethical for whatever reason they determined and they wrote it a book and then said the book was from a god or gods.
Worse it makes falsely makes the determination of who is superior and who is worthy.
It creates the concept of non self responsibility because outside sources determine actions of humans.
The books are also written in ambiguous ways to leave room for dangerous interpretation by men in power to control others.
Most of the books are the greatest works of fearmongering ever written.
You know, I get accused often of being "anti-religious" but actually I could give a flying rat's arse about what get's a person through their lives. And as John once said, "whatever gets you through your life...is allright"...how un-imposing that is right?...so here's the "other side", the majority religion in this country seems to want to impose their religion into everyone's lives....they have used and will use government to get ther way...that peeked in 2000 when the Dippic was elected with the thumper vote....and now here we are suffering from that vote...thanks!...and even the most recent talk of "Second Amendment solution" is in the air. What does that even mean? Sorry guys but Republicans, religionists, radical T-baggers? I see no real differences anymore.
I have recent real-life examples of the Christian in-your-face attitudes and their shilling for dollars.
1. The other day at work I was told that another worker heard I was a Satanist...lol. I had mentioned once that I am an atheists and from there I don't know what happened. Me a Satan guy? I don't believe in any of that sch*tt.
2. See my thread on What Would Jesus Drive.
3. A knock on my door! I was D3ing and it startled me because I wasn't expecting anyone. I open the door and for the second time in a month it's a local church group. I just told them that they were tresspassing (No solicitors allowed here) and slammed the door.
~~~

The religionists need to start respecting people's choices and stop voting their ideology over what's really best for our country and especially humanity. When I hear someone say "the US is a christian nation" I immediately hear a traitor to the Constitution. or maybe the person really is that ignorant? "God only knows".

ignorance is bliss...and there are a lot of really happy people out there.
