Objective opinions only, please.

What do you think of the ad?

Assuming that the statistic is valid, what is the ad encouraging and what are the implications?

Didn't you know that these sites are owned by the Association of Divorce Lawyers there is not enough breakup so they have to create more (money money money)

I think that "lonely" is just an euphemism for women whose husbands are not taking care of "business", so there is the possibility of an "intimate" encounter with no strings attached.

I do not have faith in statistics, since they are so easily skewed to represent assumptions which are flawed. As an example, my poker statistics convey that I win 68% of the hands in which I bet, but I know for a fact that I average only a 6% increase on my ventures.
If 3 out of 10 married women cheat, then I ought to be able to choose any 100 couples and meet 30 cheating wives, on the average. I think that the closer truth would be that 30 of 100 women whom are presently married cheated at some time in their lives. It could have occurred in a prior relationship, or a decade ago, neither of which should encourage me to assume that 3 of 10 married women are presently ready/willing.

The larger and more critical matter is "What percentage of married men are likely to shoot, knife, batter, burn, drive over, or otherwise ruin the life of whomever tries to cheat with their mate?" That number might indeed be 30%.bigsmile

I think most of the ads are full of crap. Have you seen the pics of the men and women in all these ads? Beautiful women, hot guys....it's false advertising to get you to pay for the sites.

Yup. If they're THAT stunning (as they're depicted on the pictures advertising the site, whichever site it may be), then I sincerely doubt they have any trouble finding any dates, and I kinda doubt they'd have to be on some dating site to do it.

I don't know about that. There are a few women here that most would consider " stunning ". But yet, here they are.

If they are lonely it's their own fault. Some simple communication could solve the problem. Personally I have no respect for someone who cheats, and that holds true for either gender.

I believe you make a good point here. I keep forgetting that many/most people who cheat are not habitual and chronic.

1. i have adblocker plus and firefox!
2. the ad is helping those who feel that marriage is broken to smash it into little bitty pieces. but the good news is that if the divorce rate is about 50% then 40% of the future ex-wives may not be cheating!

If they are lonely it's their own fault. Some simple communication could solve the problem.

Its not always possible. Sometimes circumstances are out of our control. Its not in our hands always to be able to change something. Once in awhile, we need to accept that, despite our best efforts, things only stay the same or get worse. My hunch is that for a lot of the people drawn to an ad and a site like that, loneliness is something they feel powerless to change on their own. Perhaps they know what they have, but they don't know what could be. There's always the possibility that it could be worse. Society does make it very difficult for single women, divorced women, especially single, divorced, mothers. Its frowned upon even in this day and age.
