Stand up for the child. I wouldn't take on the person doing it, (I'm not that crazy)but I'd definitely call the law and let them handle it.

Get up in the parents grill! As kid I have been there with a very heavy handed and verbally abusive father.

Did it before. I'll do it again!

Ya know....I see this topic come up here and there and there is one thing that always bothers me.

I see sooooo many people saying that they would " call in the law " on the offending person....but these are ( in a lot of cases ) the same people who sit back and piss and moan about the fact that kids these days are " out of control ".

Wanna know WHY they are out of control??? No fear of discipline.

Time out??? What a joke.

There is a HUGE difference between a spanking for disciplinary purposes and abuse.

Trust me. I am WELL versed on the differences.

Now...in the case the OP states which is " CLEARLY abusing "....even that is going to be based strictly on the judgment of the observer.

Some people figure that if you even so much as look cross eyed at your kid, you are abusing them.

see this is why i have no kids. because friday... a woman looked at her rampaging child and said

"Emily you're not making good decisions..."

and do you know what emily said??? as she dumped water all over our floor and threw stuffed animals at other kids and tore spex frames off the wall?

"I want to not make good decisions mom." she smiled and kept goin. mom... tried to talk her down.

do you know what i (and my mom!!) would have done!?!?!

i'd have dragged her ass to the bathroom and popped her one.

i'm a believer in spanking.

but i'm sure to stir up a firestorm with this so i will say no more lol

If it was a swat on the butt or hand I would think the child did something that warranted it. It's not my business and if I were to swat my child it wouldn't be anyone else's business... Some believe in spanking some don't.. To each their own unless they are beating the kid THAT is different.. As for verbally abusing I would probably say something...

EXACTLY... My kids ever did something like that they'd get their ass spanked.. I might cry but I'll be damned if my kids are going to act like neanderthals.... Teach them right, talk to them, etc. and if that doesn't work then it's time to try another way...
