 Another idea i had, which is definately too much, but i will share anyway. Id start off looking at the couple, and say "when i was talking to people about how nervous i felt having to do this speech, they would tell me 'just imagine the crowd naked', i was going to do that but i noticed how many children were here today so i will just stare at the bride instead" Do you think i could get away with that one?  i dunno its hard when kids are there lol.. maybe later on in the evening when they are gone say it

In just under two months i am gonna be the Best Man at my friends wedding. Which, of course, means i have to try to write and perform a funny speech. I intended to get the speech written ages ago, but except for a page of scribbles i made a while back, i have barely started. I'm not OVERLY worried about the actual writing of the speech, i can be pretty humourous when i put my mind to it. Its the performing of the speech which concerns me the most. I have never had to do any significant public speaking before. There are going to be over 150 people at this wedding, so its hardly a small crowd. So, any advice? Any stories? Any decent lines i could use? I need a good opener if anyone has one. If you are the "best man" why is she marrying someone else?

I like it all so far, but I'd try to make sure that the entire speech isn't focused on embarassing and poking fun at him. Make sure you talk about his good points too (if he has any. He might not considering he's a friend of yours).

I like it all so far, but I'd try to make sure that the entire speech isn't focused on embarassing and poking fun at him. Make sure you talk about his good points too (if he has any. He might not considering he's a friend of yours). (oh, I just sent Regina an email) I havent got to the nice bits yet, thought id get the jokes out of the way first. Im starting to think that the sentimental bits might be harder to write, the jokes are coming easier than i thought. And thanks! |
