I behaved myself under a direct threat to "behave myself" from my Mom, step Dad and step brother.

So I went in (after a very long, detailed, somewhat heated conversation with my Mother on butting out), was completely sociable, polite, etc, until... his repeated interrupting a conversation Mom and I were having, because he felt that his need to be "served properly" (in my Mother's home) was more important that any conversation we could possibly be having. And that if I wanted to have a successful relationship with a man, that I should curb my tongue and "snap to it".

This was AFTER having butted into a conversation I was having (in another room) with my brother about my current job that I'm having difficulties with. He stated that he firmly believes that a woman's place is at home and not "playing around and mucking up" the workforce with sentiment and maternity leave. And that his future wife will know her place in the home as the mother of his children and the keeper of HIS home.

Heh... he's still alive only because I didn't want to shed blood in front of the kiddos that were present. Although, it was suggested that they go outside and play just before I verbally filleted the jacka$$.

I honestly at first thought the guy was joking. It was that over the top. Thankfully, my step Dad was laying down when the worst of it came down because he has a very bad heart and should not be upset, so he didn't have to deal with him. I think he might have shot the guy on the spot if he had been awake.

All in all, I think Mom has learned her lesson. bigsmile

rofl

If the kids weren't going to be there, it would have gone down so differently. But they are so cute, sweet and innocent at 6 months, 7 & 11... I just couldn't do it.

I don't know what happen to the community groups that used to get together and throw dances, bbq's, book sales, community clean up days, holiday parties for special populations and promote them to fund their charities but that used to be a big part of dateing. These groups used to act as hosts and introduce people but it also was not a big deal who you went with but that you showed up and made and effort to have fun and be social. It seems to have gone the way of white sidewall tires. lol

Hummm actually the only thing besides the traditional old ways by meeting face to face the internet is the only other way I have tried. Honestly had no intentions of using the internet at all first guy I met online was through pogo.com a game site. bigsmile

Honestly I prefer the old way but since I don't get out that much hard to find them that way.

Other than the so-called "normal" ways of meeting people...what other venues have you tried? The newspaper? Phone chat lines? Speed dating? UGH!...blind dates?

What has been your best solution to dealing with the dating game?

there are man-hunters at home depot. it's simple. a pretty single mother shoves her kid to the other side of the aisle and bends over with her butt aimed at a guy with no ring on his finger. she picks up a part, plays with it, then plays dumb and asks him (not the salesperson) a question about it. for all i know she invented the part and is laughing at me for not knowing as much as she does about it. laugh

Work X 3, like strikes, I am outta there.
Church X 1, lasted ten months, disappointing.
Clubs and Bars X O since it's really not my comfort zone.

Internet X a couple of meet and greets.

My Mom set me up... and after behaving myself for a little while, I verbally filleted the SOB. bigsmile

Was wondering how it went!

I haven't dated in 26 yrs. I have no idea how to meet people my age or roundabouts. I started online and have been getting an education through the forums. So far, this is the only avenue I have tried.

Can you point me to Dating for Dummies or mating Dating 101?

My solution to the dating game is to just NOT date. After a while, you get so disillusioned by the nonsense and the shenanigans that you end up just throwing up your hands and screaming, "facacta!!!".

I am already at that place. If it happens it happens. If not..so be it. I dont stress over it. Life goes on...

I hear there's an operation for that...but it can only be performed after every last shred of patience, understanding & kindness has shriveled up & blown away...my condolences, man...ohwell

I have met woman through friends, at the gym, walking in public parks, shopping...

The club, or the bar is probably my least favorite place to talk to woman.. Although, I like to party sometimes,,,I'm not that desperate that I need some easy drunk dame... *Grin*
