Or say they like your cockiness and later turn it around so you look like an a$$?

Exactly! It's amazing! How does it get from "I love everything about you" to "I have to CHANGE everything about you" in 3 months?

Oops! I don't think I have ever done that. Okay maybe once or twice.

Sorry men out there!

I am more mature now. Learned my lesson... maybe...hopefully.

Well, I can guarantee you that I haven't learned a thing. Too busy hiding from the goatificationists....!

The fact is that we are all looking for happiness and for some stupid human malfunction we screw it up and instead of taking responsiblity for our own actions...we spew out our own displeasures on the other person.
Sometimes I think life would be so much easier as a single person...he!! I know it would be...but at least for me, I like having someone in my life. Just need to figure out how to make it work.

My problem is I like the idea of having someone in my life -- in theory.

The reality of it has always been way more trouble than it's worth.

Everyone is shallow,EVERYONE. I have never seen a truly ugly person with a date. NEVER.
Something has to attract you, especially online.
It sure as hell is not the writing! Who gives a **** what people write? No one! It is all ******** anyway! Everyone is here to find something, and NO ONE does ugly!
Yes, NO ONE! This is a fact. You can pretend all you want by saying "I am looking for someone who is smart", "I am looking for someone who is stable" blah blah blah. That is just bullsh**!
I have more respect for the person who tells me that I like your picture and I want to have sex with you. At least they are not frauds!

I think i have seen to many topic's on this subject from both ends. The thing is, attraction is always what will see if things go further or not. A lot of people lie to themselves and say attraction isn't a big deal. Well if that was the case. there would be an outstanding number of people hooking up on this site alone.

Just to add, i will not lie to myself and say i don't look for photos that wil attract me, but this don't mean it stops there. You could be really attractive, but depending on your personality and you carry yourself. Can be a real big turn off.

Here is something interesting:

Speed dating, an increasingly popular way for singles to meet, involves sessions in which men and women have numerous "mini dates" with up to 30 different people, each date lasting anywhere from three to five minutes. After every date, the men and women checked a box on a card noting whether they would like to see the other person again. Todd and his colleagues describe such speed-dating events as a "microcosm where mate choices are made sequentially in a faster and more formalized fashion than in daily life."

For Todd's study, 46 adults in a speed-dating session were also asked to fill out a questionnaire beforehand assessing themselves and their ideal mate according to evolutionarily relevant traits, such as physical attractiveness, present and future financial status, health and parenting qualities.

Not surprisingly, Todd said, participants stated they wanted to find someone who was like themselves -- a socially acceptable answer. But once the sessions began, the men sought the more attractive women and the women were drawn to material wealth and security, setting their standards according to how attractive they viewed themselves. Furthermore, while men on average wanted to see every second woman again, the women wanted to meet only a third of the men again.

So, let me get this straight. You did an experiment in which you posted pictures of yourself online, one where you looked so-so, and the picture was in black and white, and one where you looked pretty, and used a color photo.

The experiment results revealed that men, who are browsing online, and have nothing to go by but a picture and a blurb of text, found your good-looking picture more appealing than the so-so one?

I have one response to this.

Well, DUH!

well geez... when you put it that way ... whoa laugh
wtf?? overthinking is dangerous to your health! don't try too hard to be smart, and freud was a coke head by the way!!!

agree with the cokehead quote....doesnt change the fact that he popularised psychology for the masses.....and look at the mess we are in now.....

responses are for the most part amazing.....refreshing to see that people do have opinions out there and actually do think...(for the most part...).....thoroughly enjoyed the read and appreciate the time people took to state their point of view....even the ones i dont agree with....drinks
