My first puppy's name was Luke, and he was not really a puppy, but a stray dog I sort of adopted, he was the only one there for me I was young, he walked with me to school through some of the most dangerous neighbor hoods and always was waiting for me when I got home. I remember one time the mailman maced him because Luke startled him when I opened the door and he ran out crying. Then one day, he was gone, I came home from school like always, and he was not there. I never saw him again. I will never forget my puppy, my friend Luke.

Let’s start this trip down memory lane, tell us about your first puppy or pet.

My first pet was a male cat named fizzy, he had the white paws and white diamond on his chest. He was an outdoor cat, but would always wake me up for school, by rubbing his head in my face and purring loudly. He was awesome, even when he was outside we would hangout together. I miss him.

The cat I have now is alot like him personality wise, but he's a grey/blue and uses his outdoor voice alot. But he follows me around the house, whereveer I go, he goes. If I'm not home he'll either wait by the door or on my bed.

Nika, a pure white german shepard. I remember sitting next to her pen out side in the summer. If I would lay down, she would lay down. If I would sit with my back against the fence, she would sit leaning against me. I wasnt suppose to touch her food when she was eating,(dad was afraid she would bite), but when no one was watching, I would feed her piece by piece and everytime she would lick my had and was always very gentle. When I was older, I asked my Dad about Nika, he said, "You cant remember that dog, you were only 2 years old." So, yes I remember her as young as 2.

Hmmm that's tough. My folks had animals before I was born so they were always around. Carina was a Siamese cat who had been dumped shortly before I was born and my folks fought to pull her through a whole host of issue. She'd sleep with me when I slept and then gnaw on my head when I screamed.

Pepper was a big black Great Dane who was my, and later our - brother, protector growing up.

Yancy was a Whippet we took in who was probably the first offical "my" dog.

Abe was my first horse. Steady old horse, bombproof and took care of me.

My first dog was a Doberman Pinscher named "Cheech". He had no teeth (or so I was told) and he used to crawl on his belly. Our crazy neighbor lady was a cat & dog hoarder....her name was Mrs. Brown and her little toes were permanently crossed over her second to last toe....anyway....she had something like 50 animals all crammed into her house and the fleas were so bad that if we out in our backyard, we would be covered in them. Our dogs were literally being eaten alive by them, so our dogs were taken from us because of the crazy neighbor lady and her collection of animals. I remember crying as I watched my dog taken away.tears

My first pets were three cats, Patches, Orchid and Danny. They were there before I was born, and they lived quite a good chunk of years. They were sweet little cats. Patches was a calico cat, and was the sweetest of the bunch, giving us kisses. Orchid was the talkative one as well as Danny. I remember Patches would walk along the side of the tub when we were taking baths, and occasionally she would slip and fall into the tub filled with water. Patches and Orchid lived until they were 18, they had health problems... Danny lived to the ripe old age of 21. I will always remember them no matter what.

Mine was a pure bred Siamese named Sheba. She slept with me every single night for 16 years from the time we got here when I was 2 to just before I turned 18. She even had her first litter of kittens on my bed. She finally got arthritis so bad that we had to put her down to save her the agony of living.

My first dog was a female mutt named Snorky. She never did anything wrong, like chew, or doodie in the house, or run away. We got her when I was in the 2nd grade. She passed away when I was in boot camp, but my parents held off telling me until I graduated.

My first dog as an adult was a half Miniature Shephard, half something that my first wife and I bought at the flea market in Waco. We named her Reject (cuz she wasn't wanted by her owner, and cuz she was the last dog sold). We loved her to death.

My first dog I bought after she and I broke up was a pound-found full-sized Doberman, which I named Jackson. His tail was cropped, but they left his ears long. I was stationed at Ft. Polk when I bought him on post. Something told me to go to the pound on Monday, so when I went into the cage area, Jackson was the only dog that wasn't yapping his fool head off. I asked if I could enter his cage, and the lady said to be careful, she thought he was a beaten dog. I was very careful, and just sat on the ground next to him for the rest of my lunch hour. I went back everyday to see him, and he finally came up to me on Thursday. On Friday, when I walked into the cages, Jackson was standing at his door, looking right at me. I brought him out of the cage, and as I went to put his new collar and chain on him, he attacked me with kisses.

My girlfriend and I lived in a small town south of the army base, and in the summer, would leave the main door open, and leave the screen door closed. He'd let himself out of the house to do his business, and let himself in when he needed food or water.

She still says he was just my dog..

Man, I'm amazed by the warm fuzzies coming over me right now. I miss those dogs-o-mine.

I do, he was Mugsy, a golden retriever/ lab mix. We rescued him from the pound and he was not very nice at first. He was always fine with kids and women... not so much with guys, but that made him a pretty good guard dog

We got him at 2 and he lived to be 14 years old. He passed away in 2006 and I've never seen my stepdad cry the way he did tears

That was our family pet, MY first pet was a cat named Marley. He was a little terror but I loved the little guy. I used to let him go play outside and one day he never came home. I found him at 3 weeks old in a gutter half dead, my heart broke and I picked him up and took him to the vet. Never really liked cats before him but now I'm ok with them.

I have another little rescue dog now (my family never buys pets we always rescue/adopt them) and she is such a sweet little dog thats so happy to have a stable home
