Role models are not something we have, but something we choose. No one can choose that which they cannot see.

The greatest door anyone can open is not one of wood or steel, plastic or glass, but the soul.

"Cryptic, obtuse AND vague." I wouldn't say so. I would say clear, self-evident, and precise... but debatable. Very, very debatable.

The entire story of motivation, act, wishes, desired, etc. etc. can be explained by the deterministic model, which does not permit free will, and does not permit the individual to make choices, however well equipped he or she is in her mental faculies.

The big door... hm, that may be criptic but still not obtuse or vague. It needs some showing or some proof... it is an opinion that I'd need to be given some guidance before I could make it my own. But it is a clearly stated, well-conceivable opinion.

I can't say whether I agree or not with the open door size. I can't start even to make an opinion. The statement is bigger than the door of my mind, it won't fit through, like some stubbornly huge grand piano during a move.

gimme some elements, gimme some guidance, please, to get me started on that.

Maybe it is comparing apples to oranges... that might be the problem.

Grooming...do you do it? yes or no -- I don't, but I'm Wux. An answer to this question answers something different from what John's been talking about... because grooming can be done for health reasons or social reasons, not only for the sake of looking attractive or more attractive than without doing grooming.

-------------------

Now that I had the last word, let's all please shut up about the philosophical implications of grooming. Or else I will invoke the power of the Grodthorbrungen Herba, the goddess of Forum Site Moderators.

Why Wux, I hardly know you, but I think I love you.

Some ladies loses the original charm of their face due to excessive facial treatment.Skin gets lose & their face looks steamy.Easily noticeable.

Dye your hair? Wear makeup? or do anything to "enhance" your looks?

Yep to both and I work out. However I do this to make myself feel better about myself and not to attract the opposite sex.

No. Been there, bought the pony and the tee shirt.....on special occasions I wear lip stick and mascara or blush......but htat's it. too much work! I have really long hair, and I trim it myself. I'm ok with what I do to enhance Me.

I also think that you folks also have to take into account about facial scarring which makeup covers this and it makes a person feel better about themself. Its easy to put down someone for wearing a bit much make up but try to put yourself in their shoes. Not all of us were born with a perfect complexion.

I don't wear makeup unless I'm attending a formal gathering. I usually use lipbalm everyday and that's it. I never tried to dye my hair. And I also use lotion if that counts. :) (I guess I'm just too lazy to care and doll up)
