Going Back '84
This is Bruce Campbell's second film. In 1964 two high school friends, Brice and Cleveland leave their suburban neighborhood in Michigan to spend the summer in the countryside before going off to college. They are befriended by a lonely farmer, Jack Bodell, who offers them a place to stay. As days pass, Cleveland helps Jack around the farm and finds in him the father figure he lacks, while Brice falls in love with a local girl named Cindy.  Made in 1988, I ask people if they have seen it and always get the "Is that even a movie"? Yup, it is, and a most underrated and funny film. Arliss Howard, Robert Stack, George Wendt all give funny performance. Howard shines though, and his humor is spot on in this one. I think it is currently on Netflix which makes me wanna watch it. Lol. |

Made in 1988, I ask people if they have seen it and always get the "Is that even a movie"? Yup, it is, and a most underrated and funny film. Arliss Howard, Robert Stack, George Wendt all give funny performance. Howard shines though, and his humor is spot on in this one. I think it is currently on Netflix which makes me wanna watch it. Lol. I remember watching this when it came out on VHS. I like it. And yes, it's on Netflix. |

Combat Shock '84
A dangerously disturbed Vietnam veteran struggles with life 15 years after his return home, and slowly falls into insanity from his gritty urban lifestyle.  One of the most depressing and downbeat movies I've ever seen. It was totally mishandled during it's original release, as much as I love Troma Studios, they were the wrong company for this (unfortunately and fortunately they were the only company to pick up CS for distribution), they tried to advertise Combat Shock as a Rambo clone, when it is anything but. BUT Troma finally gave the film the recognition it deserves with their Tromasterpiece 2-disc 25th Anniversary DVD release. It features the Troma cut, and the original director's cut. Now even Troma's cut despite some of the changes they made was still an effective movie, but seeing the director's original version of the film. Wow. |

Vic is Don Johnson before the coolness of Miami Vice. He’s skinny, dark, and lacks subtlety as an actor. Fortunately, the role doesn’t require much subtlety. He is believable and at times, the audience may actually root for him. As for Blood, I don’t know who the voice actor is, but the dog is to-die-for cute. Rent it on Netflix.
