Am I a sex addict? My friends are worried about me because I have a lot of sex, mostly with woman i meet on the internet. I know it’s not normal but I’ve been single for six long, lonely years and I’d rather have sex with strangers than no sex at all.

If that's all that's going on, having a lot of sex, I doubt it. This is sex addiction: it's about people who keep engaging in sexual behaviors that are damaging them and/or their families. Example: men who spend half their income on prostitutes, and office workers who surf the web for porn despite warnings that they'll lose their job if they keep it up. The problem puts so much at risk: their personal lives, their social lives, their jobs, and, with the threat of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, their health. Despite the danger, they return to the same behaviors over and over, whether it's Internet porn, soliciting sex workers, ceaselessly seeking affairs, masturbating or exposing themselves in public, or any number of other acts. "I see in them an inability to stop what they're doing," O'Neill says. "They're preoccupied; their brain just keeps going back to it. It often leads to loneliness and isolation. There's such intense shame and pain."

Not enough info to determine if you are or are not, but if your friends are expressing concern your "habit" may be turning into an addiction....Best advice I can give you is to do some soul searching and be honest with yourself....You say you're having lots of sexual encounters, but are still lonely, perhaps you have answered your own question...

We use the word "addict" too loosly sometimes. If you are out of contol and can't stop then yes you are probably addicted

You haven't met your hand yet? It's a lot safer then having sex with every woman you meet and it certainly won't find you the right woman, buy a blow up doll atleast you won't get stds then

I think I'm becoming that way . It's not a crime. I think it's because my parents tried to suppress me from sex at a young age. More than other parents did. Well NOW look, it's turned me completely randy

Well,its obvious that you are not alone in that bondage and captivity.many posters here like you need violent deliverance from demons of lust.I was like you many years ago.I never knew i could stay for over five years now without sex,but thank God for Jesus.I had totally deliverance and genuine salvation which is only possible through genuine repentance,total hate for sin and attending bible believing church,not churchianity or mere religion.Why not try Jesus today?
