It will greatly enhance the quality of members'experience / satisfaction on this site if basic educational background info if included on member's profile.

It is insulting to think that physical and social compatibility alone can make a good lasting match. Yes, if all one is looking for is sex and economic tag-on. Mental / intellectual capability that has been honed by educational experience beyond elementary / primary school level is an important factor in the choice of many male and female members.

It is difficult to communicate and progress friendship when the two have an excessive gap in intellectual capability attributable to prior educational experiences.

Please can you add this factor on members profiles so the very educated ones wanting partners they can communicate with don't end up as it is now, with choice of uneducated elementary /high school drop outs who think their beauty / handsomeness etc can make up for their educational and usually, reasoning capability deficiencies.
Thanks.

If you could persuade a person to have a conversation with you, then you would learn about educational details.

Besides, as one of my former military superiors used to say, "Some people are educated beyond the level of their intelligence."

What if people lie about the level of education they've completed? I used to be on a site where about half the guys claimed they either had or were working on their doctorates...pretty sure that wasn't true....But good luck finding people on your level.

educational attainment doesn't really predict intelligence,,,people can attend school and get degrees and still be not too swift outside of one special area or another

and others can be brilliant but pursued a successful path that didn't require a formal education

I think career sets a basic enough understanding of capacity, the rest should be left to the details of observing and communicating with that person

Most dating-sites have that option and I like it.
No, education isn't the only measure, but neither is age, body-type, nationality blabla.
People with higher and/or specific education tend to have different/specific mindset, mentality and so on, so in that sense I also think it can help.

You have a whole profile to add what every you wish think that is sufficient enough. If you choose not to add what you wish, then the fault lays upon oneself not the site.... Just saying........

Enjoy the site...bigsmile

There are many with only high school educations or GEDs that are very intelligent. I will take common sense and courtesy, degree or not

The solution, to your request, would be for you to so note in your profile that a person's educational experience is important to you.

I agree with what Dave said.. I've not had difficulty discerning the level of intelligence a user has once they've "opened their mouth" so to speak(and I'm not talking typo's).. I hold several BA's in differing fields but found that Life itSELF has offered a more profound level of education.. so if that option were offered.. I'd probably add "LIFE educated" as well..

I've also spoken to some from other sites that DO offer that option.. and as paintecards said above.. one can put whatEVER they want there.. but agree that it doesn't necessarily make it TRUE..

TxsGal had a good point as well.. you're profile is your landscape to shape however you choose.. some of us actually DO read them through.. I'd suggest you add your criteria there.. in hopes of finding a better or more suitable match.. good luck and "mingle".. you really CAN learn a lot about a person by how they respond in the forums.. just sayin..

Whether or not someone has a college degree isn't always indicative of intelligence, it just means they had time and money to get one. I go to school with some of the most arrogant, elitist, selfish people I've ever known, so a part of me would almost rather date a guy with no college education at all- if I was trying to date someone. Arrogance is a huge turn off to me; if I could find a college educated guy who wasn't an arrogant jerk, hooray...

Exactly. In fact, that's why it's a good idea to get to know people in the forums before trying to get to know them via email or whatever, you can tell about their personality. There's a guy who used to write me and I stopped responding to him because of creepy posts he made, it was obvious that his email persona and his forum persona didn't mesh...such a red flag.

Also, not to be a grammar Nazi or a spell check freak, but I just read your profile, "4life" is not something I'd expect to find on a "very well-educated" person's profile....so even if we had that option I don't think you'd get many takers, if they required perfect spelling and grammar on a profile before they'd be willing to talk to you.

Quite agree. I read his profile too and it doesn't say much. For an intelligent guy; you would think he would write a bit more about himself. I find intelligence is not something you only obtain from school but its also life experience as well as travelling. If you keep sticking your nose in a book; you will miss what is happening in the world. I learn new things on a daily basis and very few are from a book but rather by taking in what life has to offer.
