Does that mean he's inviting me including paying the bill? I always hate that 'who's paying' chit... It will be the first time we meet, and I'm thinking of a nice restaurant where we can have coffee first to see if there's a click. If so, we can stay for dinner. I never do dinner on a first date, but I actually feel like it this time. Just the 'who's gonna pay' thing.. Can I safely assume with this message, he's going to pay, or should I address the issue to be sure? |

In my book, that makes him the host. Host pays...simple.  Although, 'my book' is a used napkin with a few scribbled notes. |

The way I see it if they ask you out they have every intention of paying.. Some just need a little help on what kind of place you would like to go to...

I found a real nice restaurant, suddenly remembered one that was recommended to me a few years back. I must say it does feel really good when a guy asks you out for dinner, just like that, is not difficult about anything. Initially I let him make the decision, so he could do the man-thing, then he is a gentleman and let's me choose. I'm beginning to like this stuff, lol. |

The "old school" interpretation of his invitation would be as follows"
"I would like to take you to dinner. If that is OK, I'll make reservations. I realize that you may not want to spend that much time with me at first, so if you prefer, we could go have drinks in a less formal atmosphere." A "newer" school version of the invitation (which I do not believe applies) is, "We could have dinner together to see how things go and each pay our own way or, if you don't want to spend that much money, we could just meet for drinks." |
