quoting feral again "you wouldn't be able to look into the light God....But some did for example Moses saw him."

Moses is not a concrete example. As he is a biblical figure, the bible does not justify itself

Im into witchcraft (Faith is justified through magick thanku) and in wicca (not what im into but quotable in this case) it is stated that the only place where the godddess (or in your case god) truly exists is within ones heart as ones consciense, thus the goddess is purely metaphorical. The main tenet of chaos magick is everyone is a pope
Has it ever occurred 2 u that thought is itself divine and what lies within ones mind is what one would mistake 4 an outer spirit (ie god)?

I understand what your saying, but again I can only use the Book of God's word as my helpmate...

(Exod. 3) 1Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law…and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to [Sinai], the mountain of God. 2There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. 3So Moses thought, "I will go over and see this strange sight- why the bush does not burn up."

4When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, "Moses! Moses!" And Moses said, "Here I am." 5"Do not come any closer," God said. "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground." 6Then he said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob." At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God. 7The Lord said, "I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. 8So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey-the home of the Canaanites… 9And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. 10So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt."

And as you believe in whatever you believe in I believe in the Bible and I believe that God does speak to people, as I am living testimony that he does so even today. I don't come in here a spew my beliefs because I think I am holy or whatever....It's a command given directly from God to me....and to not do as he asks would be a sin against my Lord God....that just will never happen...now we can for sure agree to disagree.

I used to practice the Hermetic tradition and Kabbalah. I could heal myself when I was sick, I could summon spirits that would move around in the shadows of my room. They would call my name in the dark. I couldn't sleep well and none of the protection or desummoning charms worked. One night I called out to Jesus and they stopped tormenting me. It was several years before I was saved, but I never fell back into my practicing of magic. When someone says "I believe in magic, because it's real", ask youself if it has really helped you. Have you gotten out of it what you wanted? Have you gotten out of it what you put in? Jesus has given me a new spirit. When I was first saved the people I worked with would say "I can tell you are feeling better" (I had been sick for years) and "Why are you so happy today?". I didn't feel better, but I was almost always happy. Today, my emotions are more even, I'm more happy and I'm a better employee, co-worker, friend and father than I ever was before. I'm not saying that Christianity is the only way, but it's the only way for me.

God bless.

God sent 144.000 prophets for us,only 5 of them came with books and their words were always the same(until we tried to change some of them by time)
There is just one religion in the universe.
Adam,Zartosht,Buddah,Abraham,Moses,Jesus and Mohammad were all the same person and the same soul

So don't get lost inside the greek mythology, there's just one God.He has no limitations and everything we see or know are created by him.

Everyone can see him,or talk with him and hear his voice.
But first you need to learn how to look and how to listen.....

i think the people who convert to christianity by "finding jesus" tend to b much more militant than those born into a family which teaches them their religion

Very well done. I think that Jesus is listed in ancient Roman texts (arrest, crucifixion), as several listed are in other civic records-- which would distinguish them from folklore.

I am a big Zecheriah Sitchin fan, and "The 12th Planet" book is a must read for anyone wanting historical facts that are often repressed.

Even more so, I think of all the followers that Jesus wouldn't have anything to do with today, were he here. War in Jesus name? Politics? Prejudice?

The biggest myth is that some of these idiots actually do follow Jesus's teachings. No way!

That’s because a lot of people who “find Jesus” that way are often feeling really guilty at the time. That’s what makes them reach out for something in the first place. Many of them have terrible stories of sin to tell. Behavior that many people would never even dream of doing.

Then after they feel that they have been “saved” from their own terrible behavior, they think everyone else is just like them and must need to be saved too. But everyone isn’t just like them and therein lies their fallacy.

One time I wrote a revealing email to a woman I was talking with and accidentally posted the letter in a forum thread!

Fortunately it was on a site where posts could be edited, so I was able to go back and erase it before anyone read it. One thing about this site is that everything is carved in silicon. Once a post has been made it’s there forever, unless you can get a mod to delete it.

I think we should learn to respect others believes, even if they
are wrong^_^
and when you talk about a prophet, that has billions of followers in his path, for more than two thausand years....
I'm not a christian and I think there are some topics about their religon that we can discuss with them.but always remember that we can be wrong and the people with oposite thoughts can be right...

Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't had time to play. I have read through the posts thought and it's been nice to hear your voices.

My first laugh came when I read FeralCat's "Mormon" essay. She apparently missed the lesson we all were recieving on a daily basis, not too long ago.

But also, I laughed because of all the studies I done, I found the Mormon religion the most intrigueing. Being founded in the near past when documentation was so readily available from so many sources, made it a great opportunity for more 'psychological' evaluation.

Thanks Feral for the work of providing all the information.

I'm not trying to start any kind of war here, but i've heard time and time again about many variations of the bible all being translated to show consistency from the original dead sea scrolls.
The concept that i could never get past is simply this.
Knowing the nature of mankind and taking a look at history and modern times how can we trust that the original works weren't lies or fabrications of the truth. This doesn't disprove that jesus wasn't the real deal, but i fail to see how it does. The fact is none of us were around to witness any miracles performed by jesus, how do we know that the books written weren't lies to begin with, or exaggerations by jesus's close friends. Maybe the truth is during a time of strife, the people needed a savior and thats what they made jesus out to be, or maybe thats what jesus made himself out to be. Someone to give people hope.

Before you shoot my suggestion down the tubes, i'll have you know i was raised to be a devout catholic and at one point would be right there with you arguing the point, but somewhere in the pursuit of knowing jesus and my own life experiences i came to a crossroads. I could continue my life digging up knowledge on a person who i never actually met or witnessed, and convince people that he is real and bring people into what i believed was salvation at the time or i could accept people for who they are and keep the morals and ethics that i've learned and share those with the people i come across in life.

Besides using the tangible to persuade others into being a good person works way better than threatening them with damnation unless they fall in line. After all when that is done all that is accomplished is making god out to be a dictator over people's lives.
Furthermore you have the adversity of a fair amount of religious organizations obviously gaining in wealth and power. Which paints in ugly picture of what people are giving their donations too on sunday.

In closing i just want to assure you that this isn't an attack on christians, and i understand the difference between faith and religion. I'll be perfectly honest too, i sometimes miss the fellowship of christians and the connectedness of sharing a viewpoint/faith with them, but i cant go back now, i feel more enlightened with an agnostic approach and a genuine closeness with my own humanity and have more empathy towards others then i ever did as a christian.

One last thing, I respect people for believing what brings them happiness, I just believe that in a diverse world such as ours their is a better way we can all be connected and it starts with the acception that we all have different beliefs or ideals. That is even obvious from a christian to christian basis.
