The Following has been marked for death: Fox has cancelled the Kevin Bacon-fronted serial thriller after three seasons, TVLine has learned. The show’s two-hour series finale is slated to air on May 18.
The Following opened strong in January 2013, drawing north of 10 million viewers and then averaging 8 mil (with a 2.6 demo rating) across its freshman run. For Season 2, it averaged 5.2 mi and a 1.8 (yet scored an early pick-up). Season 3 opened with 4.8 mil/1.6, improving on Sleepy Hollow’s finale in the time slot, but at last tally the serial killer drama mustered barely 3 mil and a 1.1, the lowest-rated non-CW program on Monday night. http://tvline.com/2015/05/08/the-following-cancelled-season-4-fox/   |

Why? It is one of the greatest TV shows on TV. The ratings are down because a lot of people either record it and watch it later or have the season pass on Amazon, it's easier to watch that way since I am at work when it's on TV and it doesn't have the commercials on Amazon and the network and it is making money for the show.

I got to finish the first season... Really liked it, but hadn't gotten around to finishing the succeeding seasons...
Just seemed like everyone in the world is in on it to torment Kevin Bacon... I'd say, it was inevitable that the precept will run its course pretty quickly... |

I'm not surprised... I didn't even finish watching the last season. Such a disappointment.
I think the writers didn't get who was actually carrying the show, and that was NOT Kevin Bacon, but James Purefoy. Writing him out of the series, or as good as, is what killed the show. Who gives a toss about this Mark dude? I wanna see James Purefoy! He's got this thing radiating off of him, whether he plays Joe or Mark Antony ... Stunning and captivating actor. Just him, and the antagonism between him and Bacon is what made the show. If you remove that, you got nothing left. Bacon is not the type of man that can carry a show on his own. He hasn't got this thing Purefoy has got. ... I'm glad it got canceled, so at least we got the memory of those first 2 stunning seasons without it getting tainted with shite follow-ups |

I'd say, it was inevitable that the precept will run its course pretty quickly... Actually in my opinion it get's better in Season 2 and 3. There are a lot of good angles. You should check out season 2, it's on DVD and Netflix. |

This has been a great show and quite gripping when viewed in marathons....
Purefoy is still in it...albeit in Bacons drunken hallucinations..... Looking forward to those last two Eps...
