I will use them if I am in a hurry....but I always hate myself when I do. I feel like a whore to Wal Mart. ^... just a quick scan if some catches your eye @ the register & if not, then I do it myself.

I prefer the self check outs. Quick and easy to use, why not?

I agree Goof I hate them damn things , besides if you need change you have to find a person anyways.I don't like using my debit card with a machine.There are people who need the paycheck to do that job.

and since you brought it up.. and got me started..lo.. what's up with Walmart and fifty registers and only 5 of them open.. on a busy Saturday...wtf... my time is not worth anything... I need to stand in line for 40 minutes.. and give them money.. oh I know what you're going to say.. WHY DON'T YOU USE THE SELF CHECKOUT LINE....GRrrrr..... people don't you see what they're doing...lol Plenty of factors can lead to there being too few registers open during rush of customers, and those factors can be beyond the control of a store's manager. .. yeah it's called they pay their employees crap..... lessen your costs and increase your profitability..... they don't care if I.... lose. $80 for standing in line for 40 minutes..... as long as I buy there low cost crap.....lol.. and they know they are the only game in town.....sooo... why care about the customer.....oui...

Hate, hate, hate, hate times 4 more hates of self checkout. Takes away jobs, half the time the scanner thing doesn't work and you have to get the monitor person over to punch stuff in. Heaven forbid you buy age restricted products such as cigarettes or alcohol. Monitor person has to come over and check ID, then type in said person can buy product.

Depends if I'm in a hurry or not. The ones we have here are much better than the ones at Walmart, no silly voice, easy bagging... And I prefer to bag my own things anyway, at least I know it's done right.

I am talking about the self-checkouts that are becoming popular at grocery stores, Wal-Mart, Target and the like. Do you use the self checkouts or are you like me and despise them? I mean...I don't get paid to scan and bag my own stuff so why should I do all the work? I hate it and actually avoid those type places whenever I can. When I can't, it seems I always pick the one thing that won't scan. Swipe , swipe swipe.. nothing. Then the register "captain" comes over with a pissed off look on his/ her face to see who is the moron holding up the line. I hate those places

I use em all the time. First I wait until the "self checkout nazi" is distracted by a guy trying to buy two potatoes, a half a bunch of bananas, and refinance his house. Then I pretend to scan my item. Then make a "beep" noise and announce the cost in a unintelligible mechanical voice. Then I pretend to bag my item. Then I pretend to swipe my debit card and type in a few meaningless numbers. Then I go home. My monthly grocery bill has been cut by ninety-five percent.
