I live in a town called chesterfield and it has a church with a crooked spire.
It is said that if a virgin gets married in Chesterfield then the spire will straighten.
Probably from shock lol.

So i was wondering if there are any myths or truths relating to where you live.

I live at the ocean, on the bay which empties into Schooner Creek.
So named for the 18th century schooner that went down there, after
entering the bay.

At extremely low tide, one can see the top of it...so they say :-)

Oh my sooooh many.

We are not all rich.

Most of us have never cared weather we see a movie star.

We are not all migrants or illegal aliens.

Some could careless about long walks on the beach.

That all are flaming liberals.

That it is way more expensive to live here than anywhere else.

That the welfare systems here pay more than other places.

That everyone drives luxury cars.

I've not cared enough about the
county I currently live in, to even
bother learning area myths and facts.

Glad to be of humorous service lol

And to expand on the OP a lil bit.....my hometown is the hometown of Space Shuttle Commander Jim Halsell.....and my high school alma mater was voted the 3rd best place to watch a high school football game in America....

"" 3. West Monroe, La.
Louisiana is a giant nuthouse when it
comes to football, from fans of the
LSU Tigers to the New Orleans
Saints. But the little town of West
Monroe is all about the Rebels. The
townspeople virtually define their
identity apart from neighboring
Monroe by the high school team. The
era of coach Don Show has rewarded
the 13,000 residents suffering from
โ€œRebel Maniaโ€ with two national
championships, eight state titles, and
17 district championships in 19
years. The atmosphere at home
games rivals any college campus,
with impressive tailgates, sold-out
crowds, an incredible 230-member
marching band, and a stadium
worthy of it all.""

I live in Texas (between Ft Worth and Dallas)

We aren't all like the Ewings on the show Dallas.

We don't ride horses everywhere. We actually drive cars

We don't all own oil wells

Our cities are just like big cities in other places...we don't still live in the Old West

Hmmmm let me think of more

Oh and not EVERYTHING is bigger in Texas (wink wink)

Maryland a tiny state that gets ignored. Some people don't even know Washington DC is, INSIDE it.

We are the invisible " Mason Dixon Line", from the Civil War & consider ourselves Southern.

One of the top 3-4 most expensive places to live, as far as real state. Low tax of %5 in sales, but higher on real estate & everything else.

Wide variety of lifestyles & dialects (one which I literally, after 3 yrs, still do not understand, this form of English).

We have, every landscape & people

The Farmers,
The Chesapeake Bay people.
The Coast/ Beach (Atlantic ocean), people,
The Mountain range people,
The Metro people,
The suburb people.
The Yuppies,
The Ghetto people.
The Millionaire mansion people.

* And most are addicted to seafood & vegetables laugh *

I live just outside the capitol city of the most powerful nation on Earth.

I guess the biggest myths, are all related to misunderstandings about the American Government, one way and another.

Perhaps my favorite: the citizens of the capitol of the most powerful and important democracy on the planet, are NOT allowed representation in the Federal government which rules them.

My home town of Halifax had quite a reputation in the 16 and 17 hundreds. If a man stole more than 13 pence,he would be flogged or beheaded. There is a pub about a mile from the gibbet, and it is said that if a man escaped and got that far,he was a free man again. The pub is called The Running Man...
