People can adopt many things from different cultures and still be every bit themself

their race is no indicator of how they should act or not act
perhaps only of the 'support' they give to issues within that racial demographic

I agree completely.

But the SJWs and today's racist anti-racists won't stand for this.

In their eyes: If you are black, you can behave however you like. If you are white, you must act like other white people otherwise you are engaging in 'cultural appropriation'.

Yeah, I see nothing wrong with simply wearing a wig or changing your skin tone. As long as you aren't deceiving someone in order to con them, manipulate them.

It is very fascinating to watch the philosophical gymnastics some people will engage in, in order to say that _all_ transgendered people are simply 'being true to themselves', while _all_ people who represent as a different race as _not_ being true to themselves. Not anyone here, but its a very common belief in some circles.

This has been an interesting read {the entire thread & many of the 1300 comments on the ABS http://abcnews.go.com/US/rachel-dolezal-naacp-leader-questioned-race-parents-reportedly/story?id=31714836}...and I asked once and will repost my question; given our blood lines come from so many 'melting pots' {foreign countries} what DNA % quantifies a 'BLACK' person--- if she was given a DNA test would it STOP the screeching crowds?

For example; there are DNA test to prove the chromosome link for Native American {won't provide what tribal group you come from} but the direct descendent line of heritage & region would help in this. But that still won't allow you immediate 'Tribal Membership'...that all depends on the specific tribal guidelines!

But if in this woman's example; NAACP has stated - 'they have no issue with her race' - if her job performance is acceptable to their charter/foundation, who are we to judge her about her persona?

I really dont care what race she is.....but I just wanna know if she knowingly lied on any applications. Not that that evens matters...except for showing any dishonesty she may have.....and any monetary or professional gain she may have received. Im sure it will all come out sooner or later.

The answer would be-'YES', she's done this before...

From my ABC link:
For years, Dolezal, 37, has identified herself publicly as African-American -- but the city is investigating whether Dolezal misidentified her race on a city form when applying for a spot on the Police Ombudsman Commission, on which she is now chairwoman. On the city application form, Dolezal identified herself as white, black and American Indian,KXLY reported.

Seems she's been using these for some period of time!

Sorry.....I just now went back and read that.
Have you heard anymore about this part of the ABC article

"" KXLY reporter Jeff Humphrey asked Dolezal
about her lineage in an on-camera interview
Wednesday, showing a photo that had
circulated on social media earlier this year
showing Dolezal and an African-American
man who had been identified as her father.
'I was wondering if your dad really is an
African-American man,' Humphrey said.
"That's a very. ... I don't know what
you're implying," Dolezal responded.
'Are you African-American?' Humphrey
asked.
"I don't understand the question of-- I did
tell you that yes, that's my dad. And he wa
unable to come [for a meeting] in January,"
Dolezal said.
Before answering any further questions
Dolezal stormed away.""

Not the screeching crowds that I've come in contact with.

To them, she is a horrible, evil, oppressive, cultural appropriator, and genetics has nothing to do with it. Some of them see this being comparable to the use of blackface.

I agree with them that 'cultural race' is a different thing from 'genetic race'. But they make up their own rules to suit their own agendas when it comes to discussing exactly what cultural race is, and how we should relate to it.

But that still won't allow you immediate 'Tribal Membership'...that all depends on the specific tribal guidelines!

Yes.

No but there's so many redundant media footage now {and articles too} I might have missed a follow up; but she did pull all of her photo images off of her FB sight - according to the ABC link!

Frankly...I'm in doubts that the NAACP {she's the head of} will push for her dismissal {she's been doing her job} but that local Ombudsman organization that she is seated on --- that RACE LIE may be her undoing on that committee! Locals have their 'FAVORITES' that often get bumped for those appointed seats; somebody knows somebody that didn't get that chair...she'll most likely be removed.

TY for that link/youtube clip; since 2007 she's been putting her race out there as 'BLACK'...
Hmmm, now I know that there is some 'CLINICAL' title for this symptom --- but WOWSER's...

Im certainly flummoxed about her thinking process! slaphead

I believe the culturally acceptable standard is anything that is more than fifty percent

however, legally we can choose from all ancestral lines that which we most closely identify with

socially speaking we are seen as the race with which we hold the most asthetic traits associated with that race

so one can have a white parent and a black parent, for instance

but if they come out with kinky hair , browner skin,,, they will most likely socially be identifiable(and treated) as black

if they come out with straight hair and pale skin, they will most likely be socially identified (and treated) as white

so race has three elements: the race one is a part of socially, the race one is a part of legally, the race one 'feels' they relate to

TY...that's very informative; I've done so much research on my families 'Native' blood line and those finite details regarding that DNA proof & tribal allowances...

But other then the most recent talking head shows {ie; Oprah/Phil Donahue/Sally Jessie Raphael} bringing it out to the public about how 'BLACKS' often get treated a certain way because of their 'pigmented color' --- I was totally unaware that they too can be treated differently by their very own family members!

Ohhhh, to be sure! I have a college buddy; she's an ER nurse in TX...they had a 3rd trimester young black mother rushed into right after an vehicle wreck --- make a long story short...they took the 3 babies {3#'s - 4#'s each} and one of them was almost considered 'ALBINO'! The father refused to accept that little one as his --- I can't imagine the emotional duress that that little baby would endure all of it's life! They all survived and were discharged but the parents separated before the young mother was even discharge --- I guess pops thought there was some infidelity because he wasn't about to accept all the doctors & nurses telling him any different!

Geeze this is the 21st century and this still happens brokenheart

You just did Ms.
The NAACP can have her as long as they also take Debbie Wasserman with her.
