Is anyone else getting more cranky, impatient, and angry with age ?
I have dumped many annoying 'friends' and refuse to see annoying relatives, avoid annoying places like the city, have terse words at the TV often, absolutely hate all 'governments', and feel that the level or moronity is rapidly rising in the general community, and I don't suffer fools.

Am I alone in this ?

I'd probably be a bit more tolerant if I got a hug or a kiss every few years to make me feel human, but that never happens, so I get more cranky with each year.

wot say you ?

its awesome to self reflect that way,,,

this is something I concsciously fight and have my whole life

I am naturally very empathetic to humans and the human condition but I find my self in a culture that seems to be more and more lacking in compassion or empathy for humans, and a culture which seems to strive instead on tearing people down and blaming and 'hating' humans

I Was raised in a home where hate was a four letter word when describing people

I was taught the balance to expect people to be complex , a combination of the good and the bad in EVERY human

I was taught to judge actions and words but never people because I was raised that we dont truly know any other individual completely enough to do so, that only God can judge in that way

but, there can be so much gossip, hatemongering, fearmongering, and negativity all around us everyday,, it literally can feel like I am being emotionally drained,, so I mostly avoid others too because I dont want to be bothered

I have to build up and set aside short periods to be around people , lol
like a negative energy bypass reserve,,that I must recharge long and often

so I can relate, I am very much unwilling to become that cranky, miserable, impatient person,, AT ANY AGE,, but I consciously fight it so I can stay the more positive and balanced person I want to be

Nope.

Not overall, anyway. Some people and things which I admired or desired when I was younger, I now find annoying. But some who angered me, or caused me problems, I now understand much more thoroughly, and so I have more patience with them.

In general, I think that the things I am less tolerant of now, are the things I was ordered to put up with as being necessary when I was younger, and which I now realize are just because certain people are selfish or lazy.

Other things, such as people who move slowly due to age or infirmity, I understand much better.

Oh, and I've noticed that at least with SOME people who get grumpier with age, it's because they were told when they were younger that they'd be allowed to do whatever they wanted. And they are mad now that they ARE older, they are told no, you still have to obey the law, and be responsible for your actions and the results of your choices.

With age can come wisdom and cynicism and both deserve our attention. Maturity can provide insight into others and help determine which folks are toxic and need to be avoided, people change and some for the better and others not so much. Being able to keep ones sense of humor and accepting we live in a culture of entitlement ( half the US population is on some type of assistance), and with the silliness of PC there are no discernible standards of personal conduct and this allows others to feel righteous no matter how inconsiderate or thoughtless their behavior is for themselves or others (EX traffic courtesy, texting, illegal turns running red lights and stop signs all demonstrate the belief that laws are not for them as feeling entitled is a right not a responsibility. Over 52 % of all pregnancies are unplanned and that strongly reflects on lack of any personal responsibility or concern for others as single parents proliferate and so does poverty, lack of education and nonhelpful parenting the norm. Just sit in a restaurant or store and see parents allow the little ones to run wild, talk loudly, and misbehave with no helpful guidance or consequences... Yes there are many losses associated with our new social milieu and one must struggle to keep balance in a sea of non participatory adults and teens. Being able to help change this scenario is one obvious solution rather than apathy and choosing to be helpless in the face of great social confusion.. Each person decides consciously or not, what role if any, they will play in the society and a society is only as functional as its citizens take active roles to bring about needed changes....
