Op.. if you're going to be on a open forum.. you will have to grow a thick skin... try not to take what others say personally it's just their opinion...
But if somebody personally attacked you report them to the mods... Outside of that try to take what everybody says with a pinch of salt.. Because it's just their opinion of the topic ...not of you as a person..ok.. But I know sometimes it can feel personal... but in most cases it..is not.. |

People are gentle here. I know forums that will make you weep for the state of humanity... Agreed M2 has a cheerful feel to it compared to some dating site communities. Understand that sarcasm is often used to lighten the topic at hand. Sometimes a welcome relief and sometimes out of context. Just go with the flow. There are many fine people in the forums with a wide range of insight and humor. Just give it some time and you will fit right in. {{{Oh Gawd, Did I just type that?}}} LOL |

I thought we are free to post or comment or reply here in forum. But its really sad ![]() Anyway I already forget that and lets move on ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well, I can say that I'm very straight in my responses in topics and not just in here, in real life also. People, who don't know me so well sometimes consider me arrogant because of this (I could take it as judgement also, but I don't). I just give my honest opinion, not judging or trying insult anyone. We only discuss subject what you have posted, not you as a person. If everybody would agree with all you posted, then there won't be even reason to continue conversation. Everyone has right to own point of view and also freedom to express it. That is what makes discussions interesting. Sorry, if I have made you feel this way, but it has never been my intention. I have nothing against your personality or topics you have posted. Keep posting and have fun and don't take responses close to your heart! People in here in Mingle2 are great and they all wish you the best. |

hmmmm also I think sometimes there is a difference in cultures Americans often have a rather 'in your face'type of humor and we are as a bunch fairly opinionated and if we think you are wrong? uh ya we are probably gonna tell you so ![]() Yeah that's part of it. Another thing that I had to learn myself about forums like these, is that there are at least a half dozen basic kinds of people who join in. There are the straightforward honest ones; but then there are the ones who got the idea somewhere that being snooty is "in." And there are the ones who fancy themselves social sleuths, who will look through whatever you post, for any hint of hypocrisy (even if they have to write it in themselves), and call you on it. There are the ones who have been through some unpleasant adventures of their own, who you accidentally trigger animosity in, because you say something that reminds them of their previous nemesis. And of course, there are plenty of just plain "trolls" in the world, who all boil down to being people who tragically never grew up further, after discovering the great fun to be had by getting other people upset. Best thing to do, is to think of forums like a late night party, where an occasional drunk will stumble in and say rude things, which you can ignore, while you go about the often difficult work of sorting through the chatter of everyone else, to find the one or two people who are as interested in serious discussion as you are. |

I thought we are free to post or comment or reply here in forum. But its really sad ![]() Anyway I already forget that and lets move on ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Actually I think you have been given some great advice here. When I came out onto the forums over a decade ago. I really had to toughen up and not let things bother me. A couple of things that really helped me was to get it in my mind people come from all walks of life, some happy, some bitter, from all points of the world. Also I would most likely not meet 99% of the people I interact with in the forums. Be true to who you are, be open to learn new things and others point of view, not always agreeing with them. Just respect that this is their thought process. And sonmetimes just shake your head and be thankful you aren't as bitter or angry as they are. Welcome to Mingle |

Sometimes the internet Troll arrives in to a thread or creates a thread, their only purpose in life is to upset people by what they say, they create arguments or fuel them, not seen any on here but be aware of them, and ignore them. ![]() |

Wise-Geek on Forum Etiquette
http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-forum-etiquette.htm Albion resource for Netiquette http://www.albion.com/netiquette/ Wiki on Flaming: Flaming is a hostile and insulting interaction between persons over the internet, often involving the use of profanity. It can also be the swapping of insults back and forth or with many people teaming up on a single victim. Flaming usually occurs in the social context of an Internet forum, Internet Relay Chat (IRC), Usenet, by e-mail, game servers such as Xbox Live or PlayStation Network, social media services, and on video-sharing websites such as YouTube. It is frequently the result of the discussion of heated real-world issues such as politics, religion, and philosophy, or of issues that polarize sub-populations, but can also be provoked by seemingly trivial differences.
Deliberate flaming, as opposed to flaming as a result of emotional discussions, is carried out by individuals known as flamers, who are specifically motivated to incite flaming. These users specialize in flaming and target specific aspects of a controversial conversation. In a modern Internet lexicon this term has been almost entirely superseded by trolling. Wiki on Trolling: In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal, on-topic discussion, often for the troll's amusement.
This sense of both the noun and the verb "troll" is associated with Internet discourse, but also has been used more widely. Media attention in recent years has equated trolling with online harassment. For example, the mass media have used "troll" to mean "a person who defaces Internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families." In addition, depictions of trolling have been included in popular fictional works, such as the HBO television program The Newsroom, in which a main character encounters harassing persons online and tries to infiltrate their circles by posting negative sexual comments. Try to remember that all people are different just as you are different. Make friends with the ones you can relate to and let the others just do what they do. |
