As a 50 something curious to know what the fellows out there consider to be deal breakers?

In my conversations with some men deceptiveness has definitely been an issue and always a deal breaker.

For me smoking is another dealbreaker, not merely a personal choice but health related as I am hyper sensitive to that (not to mention I cannot breathe as well).

I think that I am generally accepting of most things however I also draw the line with someone who requests money (haha, obviously) :laughing::laughing: For example the fella who asked for $2500 so he could pay an attorney fee in order to collect his nearly $300,000. Yes, sure. I wonder how many people these scammers and phonies approach before they find someone weak and vulnerable/trusting enough to do such things. Hmm...

The obvious one is women who lie by omission with head shots ( or only one photo) that mask obesity, or are twenty years old. Deception in lifestyle ( I have a job, car, house, income all fabrications,) and a general lack of social skills ( introductions that offer a name are appreciated!) one sentence attempts to initiate a conversation smokers that's about the usual fare on dating sites in my experience..

Most women have been with A**Holes, and don't know how to treat a nice guy. they try to change them into what they are use to, but what i don't understand is why would someone want to be an A**Hole.trying to change me into something i'm not is a deal breaker.

Deal breakers: heavy smokers; house or clothes doggy smell/fur; look like a junkie; messy alcoholic; heart attack candidate; anorexic; really bad teeth or hair; too much jewelry or makeup; hard party-ers; big spenders/shoppers; constant talkers; loud-noisy; drama queens; dodgy friends/family; mindless yet opinionated; pushy, manipulating or controlling; requesting money etc. straight up; cold standoffish; too young or too old;

I think that excludes most people.

Wow sounds like the "Pickens" are pretty slim.

Maybe where you are looking?

I get that but then some seem to be a inability to see what is right in front of them from the start.

If you are looking for physical perfection in the 50+ crowd obviously you are not looking in the mirror.

I no longer find that it's all that useful to try to list "dealbreakers." Mainly either because there are so many, and they are so subtle, that it takes too long, or because they are so obvious that you'd have to be certifiable not to assume them.

That, plus I think a lot of people get caught up in the PROCESS of finding a mate, to the point where they forget that perfecting the PROCESS, isn't the reason they are here.

It's a bit like that saying " when you're up to your neck in alligators, it can be hard to remember that your original plan, was to drain the swamp." Only this is the reverse: people get so caught up in draining the swamp, they forget that the reason they wanted to do that, was to catch an alligator.

So they end up proudly displaying a profile with a complete list of all their "red flags" and "deal breakers," with no new mates to show for it. This is because of the down side of knowing and advertising your worries: some people see your list, and think "well I don't like that stuff either, but this person seems to sensitive about it, they are going to ASSUME I'm a problem the moment I spell a word wrong, or tell a bad joke."

Interesting topic! I'm not a guy, but for me it is People being judgemental of others, men and women.
