Topic: Why don't you just date your phone?

Do you have any problem with people who use their phones while on a date with you? Do you have a problem with people who have a problem that your phone is basically another appendage?
Back when I was dating between 2004 and 2011 my phone was turned off any time I was out on a date. I figured the earth would continue spinning without any help from me for a couple of hours. |

Myself I'm not one that is on the phone all the time... And when around others regardless who they are friend/date/family normally my phone is in my purse or on the table in front of me facing down...
But to be honest yes if I was with a friend/date/family and they stayed on their phone it would drive me nuts.. I would point blankly ask them if it is really that important??? When with family and we are eating they already know by now to put their phones face down or they will hear me ask all to do the same and lets talk... ![]() ![]() |

How a person deals with distractions while on a date with you is tremendously informative as to their character and life attitude.
There are few things that are more important to understand about a potential mate, than their hierarchy of social importance.

If I am on a date, I do check it for emergencies but I don't stay attached to it at all

They sit next to each other and parallel play on their phones/tablets/laptops. |

If only cell phones were as omnipresent before I got married maybe I would have realized I'd be 5th or 6th in the pecking order... |

I think it very rude to invite a woman out and then for me to spend time on my cell phone. So I shut it off. At times I have left it in the car.

If I'm out on a date, I've no reason to look at my phone unless it rings. Even then, I'll often ignore it or quickly tell the person calling I'm bust and will not chat.

I love the people that say they need to keep it on for emergencies. "Does the President need your input about how to respond to an imminent global threat? No? Your 16 year old daughter can't find ink for the printer so she can't print that paper she had three weeks to finish... Ahh, okay..." |

People that ask me out are ones that know me and why I need it. It isn't for something petty. Dates are forewarned. My responsibility comes before dates and they know that

Well.. in all honesty.. I have two boys at home and I run my own business..
Sooo..hmmm.. busted..lol.. but really if my phone goes off during a date and it's always just a text message.. I excuse myself look at my phone very quickly and if it's not from my boys I put my phone away.... believe me if my boys are texting me ..it's not because they're out of ink..lol... more like someone's bleeding or the house is on fire..lol

I don't agree with people checking fb or whatever. That can wait. Those people get dismissed ![]()

Under certain circumstances such as they have children or maybe a work issue then I am ok with it but if they are constantly engaged with the phone it would bother me.

My phone is in my purse at all times, but always low ring volume or vibrate. On a date, it is never on the table but my father is elderly and he may need my help.
