Every day we think of perfect scenarios in our head. Whether it's somthing as small as spelling or running into the perfect women/guy. I for one, don't think perfection is attainable. I do think we can ignore imperfections, it is all about how you perceive them. Maybe you can find perfection in imperfection? Give this a ponder for awhile and tell me what conclusion you come up with.

to be honest ... I seldom think of men in terms of perfection .. and I would not want to be held to that standard myself . I am me :-) waving

Same as Blondey...
It's unhealthy if you think in terms of perfection if that means someone should have a perfect body and perfect behaviour.
You remember David Hasselhoff in Knight Rider? He looked so perfect, tall and handsome, perfect. And almost fake. I always thought "Can someone please give him a nice scar across the cheek or something?"

I think the only perfect I've used was "the perfect partner" in the sense of "the perfect partner for me"
As in "the best possible match" which has nothing to do with physical or behavioral perfection.

Do you think perfection is attainable?

Not really.
I don't think you'd want it.
At least not if they were objectively perfect as opposed to perfect in your eyes.

Every day we think of perfect scenarios in our head. Whether it's somthing as small as spelling or running into the perfect women/guy

I don't think that is trying to come up with perfect scenarios.
IMO it would be more appropriate to say every day we think of idealistic scenarios we rationalize into the subjectively pragmatic for a sense of control and achievement.

I do think we can ignore imperfections,

I don't think that is really a good idea.
If you ignore the imperfection, you can't ever understand the whole.
2+3+6+1 = 17. Which "imperfection" do you ignore? The "7" and fill in your own "2"? The "3" filling in your own "8?" The lack of another "+6?" The sum? The equation? The numbers?

People are complex. An imperfection influences the whole concept.
Trying to ignore an "imperfection" is just rationalizing your perception of them in order to make them perfect in your eyes only, for your own sensibilities.

Unfortunately it's a dynamic world people interact in.
So you will have to spend far more time and effort rationalizing to keep a false perspective alive, getting constant external feedback that your perspective is false and having to come up with ways to ignore it and keep the false perspective.

As in "the best possible match" which has nothing to do with physical or behavioral perfection.

That made me smile.
That just leads to the perfect relationship you want or idealize.

Some people want to be perfect, some people think they're perfect.
Some people want a perfect partner.
Some want a perfect relationship.
Most do, but pretend they don't, because that might lead to social judgment.
Mental gymnastics.

There is no "perfect partner for me."
There is no "the best possible match."
There is only the one you ultimately choose and it's almost entirely based on either aesthetic appeal or ego reinforcement.
Either "oooh, I want to pass on that hotties genes," or, "ooooh, I see myself a certain way, I think I know who I am, they help prove I'm right, or right to do so."

No matter who you choose, there is someone somewhere that is a better match.
If you don't believe that, then you ultimately do believe in "perfection," you just don't like the connotations of that now dirty word.

it depends upon what you mean by that. People can , I believe, do certain things perfectly. Some people are 'perfect' ladies or gents. Some people have 'perfect' game.,,etc,,

I do not believe anyone is perfectly perfect in all things though. Everyone has weaknesses and imperfections and flaws, it is part of what seperates the robot from a human being.,,the need to learn and grow.

As far as finding perfection in imperfection....that is a common theme in both religion and philosophy. Ever hear that God made the world perfect despite all its flaws? A similar concept shows up in Eastern philosophies.

Personally, I do not believe perfection -- in its pure sense -- to be attainable. On the other hand, Japanese traditions valued the **pursuit** of perfection. It's an important philosophical distinction because it encouraged people to continue honing their skills to be the best that they could be, whether it was swordsmanship, poetry, woodcarving, or diplomacy. Perfection was more of an abstract concept because it changed from person to person. One painter could create what many may consider a "perfect" mural, but it would still differ from another painter's mural which was also considered "perfect". That would not mean either would possess a consensus nor that the two artists would agree on the definition of perfection.

Another example is the "perfect samurai". It was a romanticized notion, much like knights of chivalry. But there might be more than one way to be considered a perfect samurai according to one's peers. That's because there was more to it that just strict adherence to bushido. A "perfect samurai" would be a bit of a renaissance man. Statesman, diplomat, swordsman, general, poet, artist, accountant, etc. A samurai could have many roles beyond that of a warrior and a vassal. With such potential diversity, perfection couldn't help but be a subjective term.

But even once peers considered an individual to have attained perfection, that individual was not expected to rest on his laurels. To maintain his status, he would be expected to continue his pursuit of perfection. So once again there was an intimation that even someone who was "perfect" may have the potential to do better.

Perfection...
I don't think that's even possible. Best thing is to be yourself, accept yourself and continue to grow and learn till the end of your life.

.... but but I thought I was perfect...

Lol..wink..

Perfection... it does exist it happens when you don't.. notice any flaws or red flags.. or the persons. Imperfections seem perfect to you.. nothing about how they look or who they are .gives you cause to question.. being with them.. then that's perfect. It's the same thing when you're picking out artwork for your house or knick knacks..
You just know it's perfect the minute you see it or touch it.. it just feels right.. and if it doesn't for whatever reason no matter how big or small if you're not feeling it you just not feeling it and you probably never will....

Perfection, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. I'm not looking for a perfect man, I'm looking for a man that is perfect for me.love

The tricky part of recognizing that true perfection isn't even CONCEIVABLE (after all, our own perceptions are imperfect!), is to then NOT fall into deciding to tear down all of your personal standards and set aside your personal values.

Just because you can't marry a Prince or Princess, doesn't mean you should start hooking for toads.

Perfection is in the eye of the beer holder around closing time and they haven't turned the lights up...and around seven in the morning as you were able to slip out the door without waking the sasquatch or Gollum you took home ..perfection can be obtained it's just a matter of perspective..lol...spock

Only in bowling when you roll a 300 game.

There is no standard for someone who is "perfect" but there are people who might be a "perfect" match for you or me or another.

I think people are too complex in their thinking and actions to be considered "perfect". We grow, mature, change, make mistakes, learn and evolve.

There are also as many definitions of "perfect" as there are people.

Better to strive to be decent, honest, respectful, caring, loving, compassionate, sincere, generous and what ever other good things we can find to be.

A caring World,living in peace..........now that's perfection.

The Italian one from Rizzoli and Isles comes pretty close.
She was the first thing I thought of anyway.

I read somewhere one time that perfection is stagnation.

On a broad view...If we're constantly learning and improving from our mistakes, think of all we would lose if we ever reached the peak of perfection. There would be no need for dreams or aspirations, for necessity and invention, or drive and competition. I can't even imagine what we would find to do with ourselves?

Narrower view...When it comes to individuals, isn't it our imperfections that make us unique? I've found as many imperfections endearing as not, and very few reach the level of extremes.

Radical view...Apply Yin and Yang to Perfectionism and wherever perfect good existed, there would be an equally perfect form of evil. And no one wants to see that.

My mental health is somewhat defective. It makes me happy to know that other people do not have the same kind of problems, that the human race will not go extinct. I do the best I can. There are challenges at every level. That’s why for my job I clean up the hazardous waste.

What is "perfect".. who is " perfect"

It is the so called "imperfections" in people that make you smile, grin or laugh. It is those things that make them unique

I would not find " perfect" attractive
