I am looking to hear about successful long distance relationships. What are the keys to make them successful. Looking for advice because when you look at one I haven't seen anything that really looks harder but I would really like to succeed with one.

the a number one rule for a successful ldr is a firm and followed plan to make long distance touching distance.
after that it is lots and lots of video chatting visits in both directions and even some video dates. like having dinner together or making sunday breakfast together.

haven't been into any relationship but somehow I can advice...

it takes a big EFFORT, LOYALTY, HONESTY, TRUST and LOVE (for both people) to make the relationship work.

Constant communication is also needed (spend time chatting, be open and tell them how you feel).

Do something to make that special someone feel remembered and love. A simple present (if possible), a nice and thoughtful message or a voice/video call are some of the ways.

Last is if you meet that someone from online dating and if you have never seen each other in real life.. one should make an effort to visit that someone on his/her own country (not just once but a couple of times).:blush::blush:

(LDR is challenging but when you truly love each other, no distance can separate you).:blush::blush:

I am in a LDR (800 kilometres)
We do live in the same Country... and we are of the same culture and colour, nearly the same nationality and with similar morals and values..
We will either fly or drive and see each other every 2-3 weeks...and have a visit from 3 or 4 days to a couple weeks together at a time.. when we are apart there are many phone visits throughout the day and evening...
I cannot see a LDR working if two people are of a different culture,..along with being thousands and thousands of miles apart.... too much trouble and aggravation to bring them to the west.
My humble opinion..ohwell

You are half way there when you say you would really like to succeed with one. The key must be to find someone who is equally keen, and interested in you. You need to be aware that there are scammers on all dating sites, people pretending to be someone they are not for the purpose of obtaining money from you, so you need to be very careful. Create a friendship only, so you can get to know each other, because until you meet each other in person you don't really know if it would be more than that.

Welcome to Mingle2 and good luck in your search.

It's really good to know long distance relationship has some value to some people, where people think its just terminology nothing else

For some, it works. For others (like me) no thanks. I prefer someone close that I can see

I am very thankful for Duttoneer's advice, because I have met many scammers on dating sites and luckily I got off!

There is a topic called 'Success Stories' or something similar somewhere on the site.. Do a search for it.

Welcome to M2.

Make sure that he/she lives in a nice place, worth the travel. Sight seeing can be a bonus. laugh

Meet inperson, then travel and spend times together! On phone is not a relationship!
