Friendship doesn't necessarily mean it will develop into a Relationship.

Sometimes people think it will. Big mistake !

Chemistry is a huge factor.

They do. I have one now that I considered a friend, well she thought it more then that and got pissed when I did not want to make it more then that.

And I have some others who see it for what it is.. friendship.

You just don't know with some people.

What is sad, sometimes you loose a good friend. Because they want to pull away from you, when they find out the Relationship thing was all in their head.

I had this happen to me last year. I lost my best friend. We were clear that the relationship was friends only. We were both seeing other people. I was sunbathing when he started sending me crazy text. I guess our friendship wasn't really that important to him.

I think maybe some men don't really want to be just a friend but more.
Then they get hurt.

Women do that too. Accept friends, all the time hoping for more.

The way I see it is,if the person pulls away because it won't go beyond a certain point then they weren't
a friend in the first place.

If you know, or suspect, the person is looking for more than friendship with you, I think it would be prudent not to form a friendship with them, because if they are romantically attracted to you they will take the opportunity of friendship to spend time with you, better not to become involved and avoid any possible upset later on in my opinion. I would not want friendship only with someone I wanted to date romantically, that would be like eating a toffee with the paper on. laugh

And it is very awkward after that, never to be the same again. You start doubting yourself abit, saying "how did I miss that" or " did I say something I shouldn't have"

Shouln't a person want a Relationship that starts with a friend?

That is, all those who desire a good Relationship. Not just dating.

Dating is just dating. Imo moving to one partner after another.

I agree with you, Toody.
Friendship is a very important part
of a relationship.
And yes, some people do get massively butthurt
when they can't turn friendship into a
romantic relationship.

Weeeeee... The magic of alchemy. laugh
