Missing out?

I doubt it.
No one who only says "I tell you later" is interesting.
I haven't got time for later, if I click on someone's profile my interest is NOW.
But the interest is not so big yet that I will stick around for 'later' or ask you...I've tried that, and it was pointelss.

Meaning, I move to the next who does know how to capture interest (by writing stuff about themselves in their profile).

That's how it works online...and what sets ot apart from just walking up to someone at random and starting a conversation.
You have an idea of what, if ANYTHING the two of you might have in common..without having to play "20 Questions", only to find out that nope...you don't...

*Every* single time I have given a guy the benefit of of the doubt WRT the "ask me", or "tell ya later" (usually they message me with "hey" or "hi")...it has been like pulling teeth to get anything out of him conversation wise..
Those are (in *my* expereince) are the guys who make with the 2-3 word/ 1-2 line replies...and get an attitude when you *do* ask them things..
"This ain't no d*** job interview"..

Yeah, darlin'..it kinda is...because I don't know anything about you, and you aren't serious enough about this to put even the most rudimentary stuff about you, or your interests, or what you are looking for on your profile..whoa

Common reply of scammers

I beg to differ..

I've attempted several pointless conversations on anbother site (the "fishing" site) with lazy dudes with the "ask me"/ "tell you later".
They weren't your stereotypical scammer....

At least in *there*, scammer dudes are the one with the copied & pasted crap...over-the-top romantic garbage..not to mention the classic grammer mistakes...

A internet search on the written profile pulls up countless sites where the *exact* same crap is....

When I see, "I'll tell you later", I always think, why not tell me now? You can't think of at least 3 or 4 interests you have? It can save a lot of time to see if we are compatible and what we have in common.

I think you assume way too much by that position. I can think of several legitimate reasons why someone wouldn't want disclose ANYTHING about themselves publicly on a dating site.

"Tell you later" is an invitation to talk about it.

That was kind of my point....when you actually get them to (half-a**) talk, they DON'T have much, or anything at all as far as interests..
The infamous "ah lak 'mos everthang"...
Such as?
Can you elaborate on that?
And then they can't tell you one specific thing..just they like 'mos everthang...

One guy on that other site..he said he liked model trains (don't remember which scale)..
I said "surely you've got some other interests?"

Nope.
That was it....LOL
