Coast Guard, 1984-1986.
I wasn't in long enough to have a MOS. After I got pregnant, they put me in the office. I did basically all the duties a Yeoman would do. Had I stayed in I would have worked towards becoming a Corpsman. I was an administrative assisted to the Corpsman as well and that interested me more than becoming a Yeoman. |

When I look back I came from a military life ...
but personally did not serve ... at the time they whee thinking of putting the draft back in effect with women also ... honestly was not happy about that ... But I have seen ... what war can do ... over my life time ... and didn't want to be a part of that ... I have been against war ....for a very long time now ... |

In a previous life I was a centurion in command of 100 men ,I enjoyed the life but was not keen on wearing all the metal armour and knee length split leather skirts

I was busy to become a pro, but I let it slide when I realized it wasn't really my dream but from the person who tried to make me do it in an attempt to help.

I came from a military family. But I myself did not serve. My dad my grandfather and cousins and uncles. And my own children. So to everyone who had served thank you
|

You signed an official contract that pledged your life to our country. You left your home and changed your life. You were/are prepared to do battle in the name of freedom. Following orders to the brink of death. You watched friends grow as you became stronger, resourceful and wiser. Sadly, some of us watched our friends die. You did your duty for your country and we appreciate your dedication. You are entitled to the benefits and reverence this nation owes you. Remember the Fallen. |

United States Navy MPM 4204 Construction Mechanic It was Terrifying in the Army, Navy was Fantastic and the travel was the best, a week to two weeks vacation in many different countries. Favorite locations was Sydney and Benidorem (SP). |

Air Force, '69-73, during one of the worst (if there is a lesser version) wars in U.S. history. It was either volunteer for 4 years or let myself be drafted for 2, but with the distinct possibility of coming home in a body bag.

My dad fought at Iwo Jima and other places -Marines, then Air Force -then in Korea -Mom was an army nurse in England during WWII (they had kids late in life). I almost joined up, but realized it was a bad idea because I was extremely bad at taking orders and am naturally sarcastic. I would most likely have spent most of my time in the brig or whatever they called it. I'm not chicken -I'd skip through hell and bring you back a cold beverage if it would help -I just can't give certain decision-making powers over to others.

My father is also a Veteran of the Coast Guard and was stationed at Coast Guard Island in the Bay Area in California. |

I also spent some time in Escanaba on the Aids to Navigation team. My father was in the Coast Guard as well, he went all over but I can't recall where. |
