I love the idea of a 3 party system. Keeping each other in check so we don't end up with a king or dictator.
Problem is, this only works if we can keep our leaders from becoming self serving and corrupt.

I do not care for the current administration as I see them not working for the people and not share my morals for the most part. No, I most certainly do not trust this president. Showing the country what he wants us to see, not what's really there. Can't even show us his taxes.

So I love my government, the idea is awesome, if we can keep it is the challenge.
We currently have a multiple party system. The problems are in getting enough support as the 2 major parties tend to take over their ideas if they get very strong. The other problems have to do with ballot access and the way Congress is set up to support the 2 party system. Lack of media coverage is also another issue.

Nothing wrong with a king or queen. We've been a monarchy for quite some time and I hope it will remain that way for a long time to come.
These days monarchs don't have much of a say in what goes on in the country anymore. We have a multi-party system for that and a PM.
I wouldn't want a president. Nor the expenditure of campaigning for president. We have none of that :)
Some anti-monarchists whinge about the cost of the royal family, but only the first ones in line for the throne get larger sums of money, the others work.
Apart from that, the keep of a president & family costs a bomb too.

Do you also offer that service for nasty neighbours? You may use a trebuchet, as a matter of fact this would be the preferred method.

Yup, the nasty piece of work nextdoor who threatened me in December when I asked him to move his car from my driveway.

I know, I know history. Each country has a history like that though. We do too. We've had other kingdoms mess with us, we've even been a strong republic, then Napoleon messed with us and made us part of his French realm. In 1815 we finally regained our independence and became a monarchy.
Apart from both WW, we've had peace ever since :)

All of the 'parties' that work for the Australia Corporation land thieves are untrustworthy. All of the ministers and shadow ministers are untrustworthy.
And even the policies are designed to enrich the rich, and neglect the poor.
If it doesn't govern, but lets things progress to damage, it is not a government.
No, I don't trust those things.

In my country "We the People" is supposed to be the government.
The problem is "We the People" have gotten lazy and put people in charge, give them authority and ownership of "We the People" then sit at home or at work and complain about it.
That war we fought/fight (name one), is my war. It doesn't belong to my government. Its my war because I am part of We the People.
The White House is My House. It belongs to We the People and I am We the People.
The CIA, FBI, NASA, Social Security and all the other government funded stuff in my country is not the government's, its property of We the People. Its managed by We the People. It answers to We the People and since I am part of We the People, that's me as well as you too.
Democrat, Republican or Independent doesn't/shouldn't matter, We the People needs to be what is important. We the People needs to be in charge.
The final say.
If We the People steps up to do what is right, I have much faith.
If we continue the status quo, Just a deeper mess, loses my faith.

well with all due respect, ths is the most abused phraseology in Amercan History... "We the People"... OF WHAT? At the time each State had it's own Constitution in which thier preamble laid out "We the people of (STATE)!! The States confederated under their own Constituition from 1781-1789 under the Article of Confederation. It wasn't until the Constituional Convention of 1787 that a new form of government was adopted. (see second paragrapgh of the Declaration of Independence) It was a Right and a Duty!! However there was never any sense of Nationalism under this new Federal Contitutional (read the Federalist papers #39) It wasn't until March 2 1867 when the Radical Republicans usurped government to NATIONALIZE it from Federal that you have this misguided disconnect!!

A consideration...
I don't live in 1781-1789.
I don't live in 1787.
I don't live in 1867.
I do live in 2020.
In 2020 there is a federal government established and governed by We The People. There is a We The People 'chain of command'.
Citizen > Local Town/City > Township > County/Parrish > State Regional > State > Federal > United Nations

The citizen (We the People) is part of all levels except the United Nation level. However, at the United Nation level Federal influences a our nation's position on UN topics so We The People (You, I and our fellow citizens) actually influence our national stance on UN topics.

If you focus on the first level of the Citizen chain of command (Local Town/City) you can see We The People is absent from decision making.
What you do see is a group of individuals (mainly business owners) who influence decisions based on their own agendas.
Most people in any town or city have no idea when a town meeting is happening and can't be bothered to attend. If they did, the meetings would be held in bigger venues.

A select few decide the welfare of the majority. This is happening at all levels of our government. Plus, We The People know it is happening and encourage it.
We 'elect' individuals to run our affairs so we don't have to.
When they decide they are going to do something it becomes their baby (Obama's plan, Trump's plan...).

It isn't We The People's plan that Obama or Trump is managing for us. We give them authority over our will so we can do what we want and when their plan interferes with us doing what we want we then cry, moan and complain about it.

Even our election process is designed to remove responsibility from We The People.
Voting should be identity validated.
If you are in a room of people and asked to vote 'aye or nay' your vote is your vote.
Every ballot should have your name on it. The fact it doesn't helps to lead to the FUBAR we currently have.
Every elected official should be held to representing the will of the people first and foremost.
If they are not doing that single key job, they should be fired and someone else should take their place.
But, we don't see that either.
What we see is the opinions of our reporting agencies and a whole lot of complaining and bickering among We The People.
Exactly what you get when you have someone running YOUR affairs according to THEIR agenda.

You get elections like the great Hillary/Trump campaign war. I was shamed such childish antics were perpetuated publicly by people We The People were deciding to elect to represent us. The fact either candidate even had a chance is beyond me?
The reality is...We The People have absolutely no idea what we are doing.

If so, why?
If not, why?

You can talk about any topic that makes you trust or distrust your Government....

NO!

NIXON!

We haven't even had a president since Jimmy Carter that wasn't a slime ball.

NO, but I have trust and faith in Jesus Christ. Having faith in the government is like saying having faith in yourself... its arrogance. Your government in a sense becomes your god.

I've no trust in my government. It has failed to deliver basic amenities to the citizens since decades.

Now things have turned worse and neo-fascists are all over the news proudly giving hate speeches towards minority. The ruling governments ideology is ultranationalism(far right) its rejecting the constitution again and again and there are protests all over the country against the government. The government is speculated to put an end to the "Muslim question". This is a last warning sign for a country to go Fascist. There are propaganda posters depicting hate against muslims, asking to vote for the ruling government in order to save the country from muslims. There is a cult of culture of a specific civilisation in my country. That civilisation is 5000 years old. Rationality is seen as "anti-national". Economic developments are not the key issues in my country, key issues are community tensions, war with Pakistan, blaming everything on the muslims. I've no warm feelings for muslims though, but my government uses muslims as scapegoat to excuse itself from providing any economic development at all. The unemployment level went highest in 45 years, deaths due to multi ethnic conflicts increased, economic growth went down, healthcare budget was cut, no education reforms were done.

Tell me, does this ring any bell? 1934?
