Welcome, it is a matter of opinion ,one man's loyalty is another man's crippling restraint of the right to choose his on path in Life and not be subject to the whims and wills of others especially undeserving ungrateful disrespectful women

Works both ways..
" the right to choose her own path in Life and not be subject to the whims and wills of others especially undeserving ungrateful disrespectful men"

If one can not be loyal to their partner they say they love then they need to move on..

Love without loyalty is not love~~

If that's the case... are you saying polyamorous people are not in love?

Loyalty in love matters if it is a virtue that has personal value to you . Ethical values are seldom black and white . Loyalty is often based on the concept of exclusivity ... that can be to one person or a group .

Loyalty and love are often interrelated but each can exist without the other ... I wonder .... does a belief in “unconditional” love place emphasis on loyalty ???? waving

Loyalty and trust are different things.
Loyalty and betrayal is not the same as trust and betrayal.

Loyalty often needs fealty. Fealty can be dangerous when the loyalty exceeds trust and becomes a form of slavery.

Relationships built on partnerships of equality tend to thrive.
The equality builds trust while allowing both partners to express themselves freely.

Loyalty in the relationship usually implies one partner is loyal to the other.
It sets a hierarchy in place which keeps equality and trust lop-sided.

Loyalty towards a concept of the relationship is very different than loyalty towards a member of the relationship.

In marriages, loyalty is usually towards the marriage vows and trust is the binding concept between the partners.

Betrayal of the marriage vows also breaks the trust in the partners.

I would rather have a relationship where trust is the bond than loyalty towards me. I'm not interested in being the king of a relationship. I don't need fealty towards me and my edicts. I'm not looking to be the authority in a relationship with someone I love and trust.

Humm never said that... they believe in more than one partner and all the partners know about the other.. therefore they are still loyal with their partner~~

Masculine is loyal and feminine is faithful. Action and conclusion to an action. Without that a relationship won't afford trust.

I agree with TxGal as well.

Also, doesn't love and loyalty go hand in hand? I remember my son saying that while with his ex (7 yrs) he never even looked at other girls. He might have seen them of course, but never regarded them the way he would've when single. Not because he had to, because he loved his partner and simply wasn't interested in anyone else.

Men also produce larger amounts of oxytocin when in love and in relationship. Oxytocin is the bonding hormone.

Me thinks that when people love one another loyalty isn't even a question.

Loyality matters a lot but it does not mean that you end your relationship over one mistake. You got to forgive.

You got to forgive.

Who said?
Who gave them authority over me?
I'll forgive when I damn well please.
