Topic: What do you do when you "match" with someone?

When you "match" with someone on this site, both people are free to send messages to each other and read messages from the other person whether they are paying members or not, correct?

Yet I find that when I "match" with someone and write them, often they don't reply at all. I don't get this. Why would you pick someone as a match, if you're just going to ignore them when they match you back, and not even bother to reply to a message from them, let alone take the initiative to write to them first?

Anyone have an explanation for this?

There is no rule that says someone has to write back when they get a message even if they match with someone.

It feels bad when they don't reply .....I would feel good if I text someone I have interest in and he replies... good or bad... I would love it if he tells why he doesn't like me:sunglasses:

No response, is a response.

Yes, when you "match" with someone it is free to message, except for those who don't have a picture posted .

I think some people go through the match section clicking/swiping yes or no based on immediate attraction to the picture without reading their profile, maybe after getting notified of the match and/or message from you, they realize you're not what they are looking for, or they are too immature emotionally to respond. If no response they probably wouldn't be good for you anyway.
Just move on, keep looking for those who have the maturity to communicate with you.

With or without coins ... "Match" is only a wee game, generated by a computer programme

I'm the opposite. If someone is not interested in me, I don't want to know why.

OT: I would not read anything into the Match feature. I'm pretty sure the site sends likes to people on our behalf, and without our knowledge. Spend your coins and send a real message, or get to know people first in the forums.

Many of my matches don't make sense unless I'd consider relocating somewhere else. I'm getting an inordinate number of pleasant seeming men, liking on me, who are either way too young for me or live in another state or country. I don't know what to do with that!

Sorry Mingle2 - it is not a "match" unless the dude lives within my range...

I went into this online dating site without a lot of expectations on actually finding a match. I live in a remote region of Montana. But, since I'm here & just spinning time, I'll occasionally send an encouraging message to others outside of my range of interest.

I usually come out with it .... a match made in Mingle heaven .... but we living it up in real hell... sorry no can do . And I leave it like that ..
The reply normally states if you send me the airfare I can come for a visit , and then we will see . .... at that point I delete the whole conversation!!!

I don't think I have ever had a match without me also hitting the like button.

Obviously, @Poetrywriter. That's not what I was asking.

Failing to respond is by definition NOT a response. And it still begs the question of why choose someone as a match in the first place.

As I mentioned before, to me it seems to be a computer generated "match" game. Probably based on mutual interests, rather than age or location. For example: Me, 52 years old, from Dublin. But being matched with a 25 year old girl from Timbuktu. Why? Both our profiles mention "Cats" as an interest.

In which delusional realm, is ignoring you,
not a response? Might not be the response
you want. But, it is indeed, a response.

Keep in mind, some members of the site,
receive well over 100 messages per day.
Quite time consuming to respond to every
single message. I mean, it isn't like
anyone has any other responsibilities.
Or, a life off of the internet. Right?

Hell, even I generally delete at least 95%
of the messages in my inbox, unread.

I ignore matches, and I ignore messages.

perhaps it was accidental . The page loads at startup and it is easy to send a whole page of likes with one click .
Alternatively .. interest can be fleeting . Maybe they have made a connection with someone who interests them .

There could be several reasons but even if you find your answer .. what will it change . waving
