Swift "justice" has resulted in many cases of wrongful conviction and execution.

Oh here we go now. Manson and his nut jobs were wrongly convicted eh?

Wow, I need to really rethink Darwinism now. There really are people so stupid out there that should be extinct by now.

I fail to see how your response has any connection to my statement.Neither in this post or any of my previous posts have I inferred anything that might imply that they were wrongly convicted. In fact I have stated that in my opinion the death penalty was too lenient for their particular crimes. If you can present something which refutes my statement rather than an irrelevant and ignorant rant I would be interested in reading it.You need to rethink more than Darwinism.

Let's not forget about that epic tease," I'll tell you later " ? Doesn't that make the the hair on my head bristle with anticipation.
Oh ! I forgot, my profile says I'm bald.

LoL. And do they ever tell you later?

The instant I see that response I'm looking at the next profile.Generally you have one opportunity to present your case and you have failed to do that.Posting in the Forums affords some people a second opportunity. On one occasion my search parameters produced about 500 potential matches.I'm guessing over 80% had "I'll tell you later" as a response. In my opinion if you can't spend fifteen minutes composing a profile then you are not seriously looking for a partner. Some people can't even be bothered to tick the boxes. The majority of people I have contacted has been in response to something I have read on a forum post.

Lung1954,you have endorsed the comments of elle 381 which unless I am mistaken state that the atrocities committed by IS/ISIS/Hezbollah/Taliban/AlQaidah and by terrorist groups in general, regardless of their claimed religious affiliations are purely the actions of terrorists. She asks people to do their own research (which she has failed to do on the Irish question) and not listen to the propaganda trotted out by governments, newspapers and other groups with hateful agendas, although how the ordinary citizen can do this eludes me.You then proceed to list the actions of dozens of minority groups, many,I am sure most people never heard of.Is this not the anththesis of what you have just endorsed ?

These 2 murder sprees were 47 yrs ago.
Technically, some perps have done their time. Good behavior.. Blah blah blah...

My opinion has not changed in 1/2 a century. Shame on you California, for stopping the death penalty. Look at what it cost you.

* Wow, has it been that long. Not too many countries have the death penalty anymore. But 47 years is barbaric, death would be peace for this human. Forty seven years and Justice could not reform this person. California is an progressive State... and they failed?

And that is something new Cali.. failed at something...laugh

I honestly think Death would have been too easy for what these people did and

had no remorse...It is one thing to do something as horrible as this and have remorse and show it in their actions...

Totally different for someone or several people to do something like this and show nothing...So IMHO the slow torture of being imprisoned like an animal is no more punishment than what the loved ones of the victims feel each and everyday

I endorse your sentiments Rains. The time served gives them ample opportunity to show that they had some human sentiment.Sometimes it takes years to acknowledge ones mistakes. It would appear they have never openly acknowledged their remorse.Whilst the death penalty is in itself barbaric at times it is too good for some people and possibly deprives them of the opportunity to express remorse.Incarceration costs the community but as the saying goes sometimes you have to pay for what you want.Quite often what we get free we don't value.

They murdered on three known occasions (others are suspected to be victims of the Manson Family, Van Hauten has not cooperated in any of those investigations BTW) and tried to cut a baby out of a pregnant woman's stomach. They should have been fried years ago.

The point I was trying to make was that some people change.Frying people does not allow this to happen although it does prevent them from re offending.Executing them is also too soft on them,I don't believe that the anguish and pain involved in execution ( unless it was a botched effort) is anywhere close to what they deserve.I acknowledge that a criminal expressing remorse does not right the wrong but it is surprising how often the family of victims take comfort in hearing remorse expressed. There is no simple or universally acceptable way of dealing with these matters.

Oh yeah. Little known fact, but there is an almost one to one correlation between internet use, and being psychotic, at least in areas where there is widespread use of the internet.

Then again, there's a high correlation between being a psycho killer, and living on Earth, too.

I have just completed some intensive research and can confirm that every psycho killer since the beginning of time has lived on earth. You were correct in your assumption of correlation Igor.

You guys might be hearing around or not here's news.. It is possible that mother nature will soon going to strike us in the form of earthquake and it will be so porful that continent can get drifted just like ice age continental drift...Well what else we can do nothing just blah blah **** ...But what if next morning we wake and everything just changes what will be ur reaction if alive...

If I am alive the next morning then I will assume I am not extinct and your prediction was wrong. However having been called a dinosaur on a number of occasions perhaps I am already extinct and am just not aware of it.

New Christianity: Every single Molecule in the entire Universe was created by god and they all happen to be in the exact place, not even a millimitre askew, because that is exactly where god wants them to be at any given time and he checks up on every single molecule to make sure it is exactly where it should be (which it always is because its god and he is totally amazing even though no human has seen or heard of him) and this only takes 0.0000000000000000000000000000001 earth seconds to check every molecule of the whole universe.

So basically every thought or action you do is controlled or predetermined by god and therefore you have no control over your own mind or body although you think you do and therefore may as well throw yourself off a bridge because having no control over your thoughts and actions are better than something else having full control of your thoughts and actions whether you think gods intentions for your use are justified or not because it is evident no one knows what their imaginery friends grand outcome for our species is going to be.

New Atheist: Religion is like a turd, you can polish it, put glitter on it and make it sparkle, you can spray it with air freshner but its still just a turd and from a mile away still smells like one.

Where can I sign up for your New Christianity group ?,haven't heard of it before. One slight problem though, your God is a bit slower than the God in the Bible,do you attribute this lack of speed to old age or redundant technology ? I wouldn't want to believe in a God who came second.

what is the age of consent these days...

many prostitutes begin when they are young

oh and parental consent is given in marrying off the young daughters

cripes who was that rock and roller who married his young cousin and that was in the 50's

always been like this here...except maybe in Nevada

all the good Christian womenfolk would get together and drive out the saloon girls or the girls working out on the chicken ranch

get those Jezebels, harlots and loose women out of our town and away from our menfolk...those evil and foul temptresses of the devil

Age of consent varies from country to country and in some places on the age of the consenting parties. In some places the age of consent is lowered if parental approval is forthcoming.

I said the transactions are GENERALLY between consulting adults

Parental consent doesn't negate my comment that "the young daughters have little or no say in the transaction"

The singer was Jerry Lee Lewis (cousin of the well known Jimmy Swaggart) and I believe the story is his cousin was 15 years old at the time of their marriage.

what is the difference between

1. marrying off girls at very young ages to men who are much older than they are...many societies do this including the United States in the not so distant past
2. dating a beautiful young woman and showering her with gifts such as a shiny sports car, jewlery, and a lush apartment
3. paying money for a dating service to find an attractive date for the weekend you in town for a conference
4. paying for a escort service for the same reasons
5. paying for an upscale call girl
6. picking up a hooker on the corner

Judeo-Christian beliefs and social mores play a part in how we judge one as being ok and another as being a wrong
